“Ocean’s 8” is on its way to a solid opening weekend of about $41 million from 4,145 North American locations.
Warner Bros.’ women-led heist film, the fourth in the rebooted Ocean’s series, earned $15.8 million Friday, including $4 million from Thursday night previews. Earlier forecasts had placed the film in the $30 million to $44 million range.
Sandra Bullock stars as Danny Ocean’s sister Debbie, along with Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Sarah Paulson, and Anne Hathaway. Ocean unites the women to pull off a diamond heist at the Met Gala.
Gary Ross directs from a script he wrote with Olivia Milch. Steven Soderbergh, who helmed the three previous “Ocean’s” movies, produces with Susan Elkins. The film carries a $70 million price tag, and is sitting at a 69% rating on Rotten Tomatoes

$41 million for a highly touted film is o.k. but you are correct. Expect a big drop next weekend.
As I said, she is quite likable.
She seems to be wearing her age well — not sure if she has had medical help.
I just checked and this picture had a $70 Million budget so they may make their money back. I see there have oped this film is as many locations as possible which leads me to believe they are trying to make as much as they can fast because this picture is going to fade quickly.
Question is will this thing play overseas?
My guess is the drop off next weekend will be at least 60% or more.

Solo grossed $164Million to date 4times Ocean’s 8. Ocean will likely break even or make some money but Solo could be under water.
I find it easy shorthand to go to Rotten Tomatoes and quickly compare the Left and Right (how appropriate) ratings numbers:
Left = Commiewood Critics. Right = Regular Folks.
L > R = High PC Quotient.
L < R = Low PC Quotient.
Not perfect, but it serves me well.
