...All due respect, Solo: A Star Wars Story is not giving audiences everything they ever want, everything they ever need, right in front of them.
...Walt Disney and Lucasfilms ill-advised and ill-fated Han Solo prequel flick earned just $8.153 million on its second Friday of domestic release. Thats a huge 77.2% drop from its not-great $35.6m Friday (which included $14.1m in Thursday previews) and it gives the film just $127.745m in eight days of domestic release.
..Thats a slightly larger drop than the 76% Friday-to-Friday fall of The Last Jedi, and this Star Wars story wont have two weeks of Christmas-to-New Years holiday play to boost those numbers. ...The film should earn $28m over the weekend for a grisly 67% drop and a mere $148m ten-day total.
...If those lesser figures come to pass, Solo: A Star Wars Story will be the lowest-grossing live-action theatrical Star Wars movie ever, without even factoring inflation. In their original releases, Empire Strikes Strike earned $209 million domestic in 1980 and Return of the Jedi earned $252m in 1983. Heck, the Star Wars: Special Edition release earned $135m in 1997, which would be around $275m today.

They kill the future of beloved characters(and insult the audience in the process) then they want that audience to get interested in the past?!Kill the heart of a story it hurts. They don’t want old fandom and the new ones don’t care.
I'm in the group of folks who want to see this actively fail. And the reason was the Last Jedi.
I was one of those actively posting on RT, forums etc that they should not have destroyed the past and not make any new beginning. I really like TFA, despite its numerous plot-holes, it was a fun film. But then TLJ just destroys what was set in that movie
Anyway, so hitting Disney in the wallet is the only way for them to sit up and take notice.
And this is actually good news. It tells me that more people are inclined to turn their back on any Pedo-wood, disney rat product, good or bad. There was a lot of noise about the omnisexual Lando Calrissian before the release and I knew I would not see this in the theatre. The disgusting, degenerate PC agenda being promoted via the series has turned away a large amount of potential audeince.
I don’t know what’s going on. I saw a review, from a reviewer I trust, and Solo sounded OK. I tuned out Rogue, partly because people I trust to get it wrong were positive. In general, a lot of good sci-fi novels and short stories have been written over the decades. Why work Star Wars to death?
I’d forgotten about Mark Hamill’s politics. Politics aside, I just thought he was OK in the original. I guess he appealed to teen-agers. Harrison Ford may be a jerk in real life, but he is a presence in movies.
Good. First time I didn’t go. Should have been two movies ago but I learned.
Don’t need Han Solo anymore, we have Trump.
I hope you’re right and maybe I’ll see it on your recommendation. But I know that stuff about Lando as a whatever sexual caused a lot of people to stay home.
Agreed
The last Star Wars movie I saw was nothing but flashing lights, sounds of explosions, frantic running around aimlessly, and no plot.
Will never see another one.
I saw the movie Sunday afternoon with my children.
I enjoyed it very much. Much more the spaghetti western in space than any thing. There was annoying SJW robot, but her cause was valid (slavery) and her annoying SJW traits shown to be as stupid as they are.
Further it had some basic economic issues in it -— notably you can’t have a revolution without a bundle of cash money.
Left wing feminist cuck garbage.
Amazingly, the press is doubling down and claiming the failure is not enough SJW propaganda. They get more like Goebbels every day.
It is unreal all the hand wringing over this movie and why it did not do well, etc., and etc..
Frankly it may not be that bad a picture, but the expectations may be too high and Disney since they bought Lucas seem to be trying to market a new Star Wars picture about every 6 to 9 months and the fans may be getting some burnout on it. How many of these pictures can you do and still make the kind of money they expect??????
The Last Jedi was so bad,so insulting, so awful..that I swore never again.
Yes, Kathleen Kennedy needs to go if this brand is going to be saved. Her politics and pc diversity craziness totally destroyed it
I would've been happy if they'd stopped after the first Star Wars, maybe one or two more, tops.
Another example of not going overboard with sequels: Eddie and the Cruisers. There was a second one that tied up loose ends in the story they told.
Did they hate that Han Solo is really a scum bag ,LOL
Disney is marketing these movies based on nostaliga to older fans and politics to millenials. So they are going SJW as a advertising ploy. The result its they are alienating the older fans who are into the story. These are the fans who families to see The Force Awakens and bought their kids the games and toys. They're being told their not wanted anymore. The milleinals wanted to see and enjoy Star Wars like their parents, and don't the new "SJW Wars" where politics comes before the story.
Disney has managed to take the hottest movie franchise ever, and turn off half its audience at the same time.
In that respect, CGI has been good. Looking at the first Star Wars, it was fun...different...but when you looked back, there was a lot that was hokey, but it was fun enough to where the hokyness became part of the charm.
It was a repeat of past movies scenes.
The actor was bland. He has a David Cassidy hairdo.

I think Kennedy is the woman, who took a pic with some of her gal pals, wearing shirts which say The Force Is Female.
Not too subtle about wanting to push certain ideology in a movie.
