Trump: "For the farmers its going to get really good. We're going to let your guestworkers come in, because we have to have strong borders, but we have to let your workers in.....But we're gonna let them in because you need them....Guestworkers, don't we agree? We have to have them."

The concept of not using them sounds great - but most of those making the assertions really have nothing but their opinions and instincts to work on and have no clue about the actual big picture.
No real reason to think Trump doesn’t hold his own feet to the fire...constant “holding his feet to the fire” (bitching because his continuing efforts just ain’t good enough even though he’s fighting up a very steep incline) is a hell of a way to show appreciation to the best ting to ever save us from the Dems since Reagan...
I don't want to go to my job either - but my employer pays me enough to overcome that. It's called supply, demand, and the market-clearing price.
And there is the difference - like I did for 47 years, you go to the job - what’s a business to do if nobody wants to do the work?
And there is the difference - like I did for 47 years, you go to the job - whats a business to do if nobody wants to do the work?
That's my point: the market cost of the job is whatever you have to pay to get somebody to show up and do it.
On the immigration issue?
Guess again.
He promised to end DACA. Instead, he offered Amnesty to 1.8 million DACAs.
He promised to reduce work visas. Never happened.
He implied he would order universal E-Verify. Never happened.
I can go on, but you get the idea.
Looks like we’re headed for $10 Quarter Pounders....and when folks get really prissy, they will cost $50....
How many of your items require anything from the Congress?????
Zero!
Trump could end DACA and create universal E-Verify tomorrow with two Executive orders.
Trump's current E.O. against DACA is Cover My Rear End political bull poop.
Trump could end DACA tomorrow with this Executive Order:
“According to the exact language in the Immigration Act of 1965, the DACA kids are unlawfully present in the USA. Therefore, I order the Secretary of Homeland Security to remove them.”
As to work visas...
Trump could write an E.O. that mandates rigorous enforcement of EVERY detail involved in obtaining, monitoring, and renewing work visas.
That would cut work visas in half.
Then, Trump could give speeches outside of factories or construction sites that still use foreign labor and urge the employers to raise their wages and hire Americans.
That would knock off another huge chunk of foreign workers.
Bottom Line - Trump is going to do none of those things. Trump is not going to deport anyone who is not a criminal. And Trump is not going to block any foreign workers if USA companies - like the Trump resorts - use them.
Keep dreaming - it seems to be a happy place for you to fantasize about what he can and can’t do outside the Constitution and whether legal or not will be held up by liberal judges....he wants to do it the right way - which is one of the reasons we voted for him.....right?
Better we know what things really cost - rather than paying part at the counter and the rest through our taxes to social programs for that "cheap" foreign labor.
Presidents “execute” the law, and the courts, as well as the administrative laws, allow Presidents wide discretion in how the laws are enforced.
DACA was created by Executive Order. The “D” in DACA stands for “Deferred Prosecution.” As you see, the very title of DACA acknowledges that DACA kids should be prosecuted, but their prosecution has been temporarily deferred.
E-Verify was created by an Executive Order in 2007 by Bush Two. It is currently enforced by the Department of Homeland Security for all federal jobs and contractors. At least 23 states use some form of E-Verify for state jobs. All those enforcement policies have survived Constitutional challenges.
Work visa law was mostly legislated in the 1980s and 1990s. Huge parts of work visa law are open to discretionary enforcement by the Department of Homeland Security. By using the political power of the Presidency and by vigorously enforcing EVERY detail of work visa law, Trump could dramatically reduce the number of job killing and wage killing foreign workers.
Liberal judges do not matter if Trump simply enforces the immigration laws exactly as they are written.
Administrative law, which applies to Executive Orders, does not even allow a judge to schedule a hearing if a law is being enforced exactly as written.
The only way lawyers could stop Trump is to challenge the Constitutionality of the law being enforced. That would take years. And while the law itself is being challenged, Trump maintains his full authority to enforce the law as originally written.
Where have you been living the past year or so? Lawyers (activist Judges) have been stopping certain actions every step of the way.
Not to mention that it is our own feckless government that "lured" so many in with promises galore and who are responsible for millions who are here illegally...kind of like promising a bunch of kids free ice cream and giving it to them for years then deciding to prosecute them because they never paid for it - even though you purposely removed the "pay for it" option.....
As I explained to you in my very first post, Trump's current attempt to “end” DACA is completely bogus, it will be rejected by every judge that looks at it, and Trump knew that when he wrote it.
Trump does not want to deport any DACAs who are not criminals. But, with that in mind, he definitely needs to stall for time until the 2018 election is over.
Therefore, Trump wrote an E.O. that declared Obama’s DACA to be unlawful, even though Trump knows only judges can declare something to be unlawful.
Each judge has told Trump the same thing - “You can't declare DACA unlawful, but you can write your own new policy to replace DACA.”
Trump is handcuffed. If he writes a lawful E.O., based on the exact language in the law, he will be attacked by the Left and the RINOs for trying to deport all DACAs.
If Trump does nothing, he will be attacked by Conservatives for lying about his immigration policy.
So, Trump found a third way - he wrote a completely useless E.O. that will tie up the courts for months.
Interesting!
Interesting!
Interesting!
Right you are:
"All agree that a new administration is entitled to replace old policies with new policies [...] the new administration didnt terminate DACA on policy grounds. It terminated DACA over a point of law, a pithy conclusion that the agency had exceeded its statutory and constitutional authority." - Napolitano v DHS
The quotation you wrote in your post almost jumped off the page and shouted at me when I read it in Judge Alsup’s Napolitano decision four months ago.
Immigration has been my number one issue since Free Republic crushed the Bush-McCain Amnesty in 2005.
Realistically, I think it's probably too late to reverse the political damage that has been caused by importing 25 million Third World Socialist voters.
On the other hand, I am an old Conservative, and I do not know how to stop fighting for what I believe in.
With folks like you around, it's amazing we ever got lucky enough to have a Trump in the WH....
