MTA will allow sex toy ads on the subway
NY Post ^ | May 17, 2018 | Danielle Furfaro and Joe Tacopino

The MTA (Metropolitan Transit Authority) said Thursday that it would allow ads for a sex toy company to appear in the subway one day after the images were deemed too racy for city straphangers.

The reversal came after accusations of unequal treatment when the company that handles MTA ads said the colorful images from luxury sex toy company Unbound violated policies about “indecent material.”

Riding the NYC subway is enough of a trip into a lower world, and I don't mean simply going underground. It will be a roll of the dice if you arrive anywhere near on time, without a derailment or stalled train, etc., the now horrific service being the new norm. You will be fortunate indeed if there isn't a homeless bum stinking up an entire car and causing a quick exit from it by other straphangers. Or if a gang of black teens doesn't come on board with a portable stereo system and proceed to do break dancing and gymnastics using the overhead steel poles in the car, blasting your ears with filthy music and narrowly missing kicking you in the face as they chin up and swing on the bars. If you like your disgusting sights landside, just walk through a connecting tunnel to view various homeless beggars sitting on the floor. Now add to this unwholesome atmosphere ads the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) now accepts for posting on the subway cars, where kids ride to and from school and decent religious people ride to and from work, ads for erectile dysfunction pills, secret boudoirs you can rent if you are a cross dresser (they are particularly disgusting ads), and now, sex toys. They throw away so much money for such lousy service, they are always raising the fares to cover expenses even though the city gives them millions, and now they are so hard up for revenue that the public has to have ads for sex toys smack in their face as they stand directly opposite the posted ads? The subway cars are now nothing but a cesspool on wheels.

I’m glad I never cared for New York.

One of my commie cousins just loves the place.

I've had a problem with aerobatics on the shuttle train. One day they'll kill somebody with a shot to the head if they haven't done it already. Cops never around when you need them.

I wish they'd bring back Miss Subways and dump the sex toys.

How else do you get around when visiting NYC? Buses? Slower than the subway, with a less comprehensive network. Taxis? That gets expensive real quick.

I ride the trains all the time, especially the Q line. I don’t generally have a problem except it does get really crowded. But that shuttle...

Knowing NYC, they will probably allow ads that show the items in use.

It was a vacation and we were only there for the afternoon. In the past I lived and worked in NYC for many years but on vacation, like the ‘outoftowners’ we were we took the taxi’s everywhere or walked blocks on end. We actually walked 20 blocks to get to the West side of the village.

Taxi’s. Yike. I’m no millionaire, but my husband who is from rural-ish NJ did not like the subway idea at all. Me. I wanted to, was homesick for it. I always loved the subways.

Back in 2000-2001 I rode the subways of Berlin, Germany.

They were clean, no graffiti, no smells, no crime.............................

I used to have to ride the subway on occasion about 30 years ago in Philly. Talk about disgusting! The cars were covered in graffiti inside and out. Seats missing or destroyed and the most pervasive smell on the platforms and in thw cars was urine. Overwhelming.

John Rocker was right:

From a story published in the December 27, 1999, issue of Sports Illustrated, Rocker made a number of allegations stemming from his experiences in New York City and answering a question about whether he would ever play for the New York Yankees or the New York Mets.

I’d retire first. It’s the most hectic, nerve-wracking city. Imagine having to take the 7 Train to the ballpark looking like you’re riding through Beirut next to some kid with purple hair, next to some queer with AIDS, right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time, right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids. It’s depressing... The biggest thing I don’t like about New York are the foreigners. You can walk an entire block in Times Square and not hear anybody speaking English. Asians and Koreans and Vietnamese and Indians and Russians and Spanish people and everything up there. How the hell did they get in this country?

During the interview, he also spoke of his opinion of the New York Mets and their fans:

Nowhere else in the country do people spit at you, throw bottles at you, throw quarters at you, throw batteries at you and say, “Hey, I did your mother last night—she’s a whore.” I talked about what degenerates they were and they proved me right.

“Back in 2000-2001 I rode the subways of Berlin, Germany.

That’s when there were actual ethnic Germans there at the time. They and police didn’t tolerate American type bull shit.

I lived in Berlin in the 60’s and it was the same then. God help you if you buggered someone in a zebra.
