French defense contractor Nexter has unveiled a prototype of its new Jaguar armored car. Designed to act as both a reconnaissance vehicle and tank killer, the Jaguar is even more heavily armed than the U.S. Armys Bradley Fighting Vehicle. The vehicle was unveiled before the start of the June Eurosatory 2018 defense trade show.
The ERBC Jaguar (Engin Blindé de Reconnaissance et de Combat) is a 6x6 armored car designed for both French Army reconnaissance and anti-tank units. The Jaguar is designed to replace three different vehicles in French service: the AMX-10RC reconnaissance vehicle armed with a 105-millimeter gun, ERC 90 Sagaie reconnaissance vehicles , and the VAB 'Mephisto' tank destroyer armed with HOT anti-tank guided missiles.

Now their cowardly cops can drive into their Muslim “no enter” neighborhoods....
That thing is never gonna pass the California emissions standards.
But will it start in the rain?
I’d prefer the SA Marauder, it’s a good town car.
They took care of that problem the driver’s seat is in the back facing rearward. ;-)
Bring back the Char tanks.
I’m guessing that those aren’t pneumatic tires.
Is there a special nook for the spring-loaded white flag?
Snork!
The A-Team messed up Amy’s Le Car/tank in an episode.
Is that real armor or aluminum “armor” like the ridiculous high profile Bradley?
It’s a shame the French wasted all their Marshall Plan dollars on that thing.
They’ll use it to deliver welfare checks in the no-go zones...
Well, it is nice if you want a lightly armored gun.
But if it hangs around in line of sight to a tank - ANY tank - it is dead.
I would have given it vertically launched ATGMs that could be remotely fired guided...

As for the Jaguar, it seems to be a well thought out design, with a heavier gun than the US Bradley and likely able to give a good account in both urban combat and the modern mobile battlefield. The wheel height and hull design seem especially suited to surviving mines and IEDs -- which may be a clue that the French Army anticipates an eventual need to deal with an insurrection based in the restive Muslim banlieues.
US soldier: “Hey Frenchie, whadda driving there?”
Frenchie: “It’s a Jag”
It does help to have a decent wire guided missile to use for ‘opportunity’ attacks. Running when faced with otherwise suicidal situations IS part of its mission
This vehicle is too thin armored for other than secondary battlefield situations (but in war there ARE LOTS of those situation).
Actually using them properly is a separate issue.
