We recently came across the following question on Quora: "If every state of the USA declared war against each other, which would win?" We've published the full answer from Quora user Jon Davis, a Marine veteran who is now a writer and blogger on military, veterans, and Middle Eastern affairs. In Oct. 2014, Davis' answer was optioned by a Hollywood producer for a potential television series.

These are the accounts of the Second American Civil War, also known as the Wars of Reunification and the American Warring States Period.

It would be red states vs blue cities and the war would be over in a couple of weeks. And that is only because we would be busy drinking their beer and eating their food barbeque style.

These anti-FA (note communist colors and hammer/sickle) are weaselly little pukes who would be the first gunned down by people who know how to shoot. That’s items 1.

Item 2. The South would definitely be organized as remains to this day-— by counties and State politics, which would now be devoid of federal teat sucking funds, and hence the teat suckers who have lived off the federal dollar would... de-evolve into dependency on those who have remained independent of the fedgov, and not supportive at all of the lib welfare state. In short the independent farmers, ranchers and .....hunters. Urban southern cities would eat themselves up with drug gangs and food shortage and diminishing numbers of poorly organized thugs who would try to migrate to the rural areas, and be picked off en masse.

3. this dude says they are from Jax, FL— a town filled with more yankees and gibsmedats than the ruling class that runs the place.... end point destruction inside out. In a race that Miami and the Cuban rural heritage population (farmers, fishers, craftspeople and strong family units/ties would persevere over the LIberty City, venezuelan, mexicano, nicaraguan, dominican scum who have little reserve.

The separation of rural from urban, in the Southern states would be the unifying power base. The cities— wastelands. The atmosphere, the Old West rule of law and self defence. New England.... hopeless mass of queers and libs without a clue. Power blocs run a fiefdoms on the former military bases by self-appointed military types, who will run out of supplies rather rapidly— then with the exception of N. maine, N. Vermont, N. NH and along the St. Lawrence into Canada— all other states an empty wasteland populated by cannibals (till that runs out).

Your scenario is more realistic than some others on this thread.

I agree.

not that anyone is going to try to invade their kudzu-devoured trailer parks.

That's funny. One of the reasons I moved to West Virginia is because Yankee snobs don't want to live here.

NO, they live there.... and control the cultural dollars, re-defining who real WV people are. Lot’s of outsiders coming to “help”, when what would really help is to get the GDmnd Rockefellers out of the state and take back their 90% ownership of mineral rights, and the “tipping fee” anyone who wants to mine coal must pay to the Rockefellers. And their wonderful “heritage” 501 c(3) gestures to the real people of WV whom they have destroyed, and controlled through one party politics for 100 years. Sen. Byrd (bought and paid for, employee of the other former Sen. who still lives there). Hearts should really go out to WVirginians who are the salt of the Earth— and deserve a whole lot more than the glad handing crap they have had.

Same said Rockefellers are the ones who used their money to develop the Mineworkers Agency (fedgov) to handle all healthcare needs for miners (the first obamaumaocare).... so that THEY (rockefellers) wouldn’t have to. The so called “promise” made in 1946 between Sec. of Interior Krug and the UMW—the United Mine Workers of America refers to that deal as “The Promise,” and says that it means that the government (since Secretary Krug was one of the signees) committed to providing miners with health care and pensions for life.

Original concept of nationalized cost shifting now writ large by the Chamber of Commerce and supported by large corporations to be forced down onto small companies and individuals. Obamaumaocare/hitlerycare persisting STILL because of John McCain’s vote not to repeal it, and Chief justice Robert’s blackmail about his illegaly adopted Irish orphans (truth) by obamaumao, such that he flipped his decision on the premium mandate.. being a “tax”. This is how it has been done, starting with the good people of WV from the mines.

Bingo. They also are home to two full tank divisions. They have deep water ports with access to the sea. They have their own refining capacity.

Not sure if they can supply their own food enough, but probably.

They have air, and even SPACE infrastructure available to it.

If they built alliances with their border states, they could take and hold the ground they wanted pretty readily, but only to an extent.

Block all roads and rail lines into Chicago and they will shortly destroy themselves.

You could have stopped right there. The fault with that is thinking that a seceding state, group of states would no longer require its citizens to pay federal taxes. Why would you think that?

Taxation without representation? Not wanting to support an immoral corrupt debt-ridden oppressive government? Perhaps you have other reasons for secession, but those would be mine. You are going to have to put some effort into explaining your position if you want some meaningful exchange.

The point is the citizens will pay either to the state house or the federal capital. It is up to the citizen to try and correct the problems of the old Constitution and government.

Well, I was not referring to paying the state, which is a given, while paying to the same federal gov. the state separated from seem inconsistent with secession. Yet there are more views on this. An since you asked me to explain why i said "the Federal government has made states so dependent upon them that secession seems untenable," then i responded based upon a presumed scenario of it. Such as "Instead of paying taxes to the federal government, Californians would keep that money in the state."

Yet being able to provide all that the Fed does would be quite challenging, and as i clarified, the level of dependency upon the Fed makes secession seem untenable - unless citizens were willing to pay (and pray) the price.

No, you don’t get it. The states will form new alliances and there will be a new federal government. They will have a legislature that have to deal with those social programs that are legacy. The may get rid of them or fund them. There is no financial reason to not break up the USA. The point is the people will now have say going forward and a chance to get rid of or correct these social programs.

Well, getting a majority in one state to believe secession is worth it and to agree on a plan is one thing, while getting a coalition to do so is another level. I find it appealing, and do no deny this persuasion and plan could be accomplished - though we need more wise leaders such as the founders of the USA were - but presently I not see a majority or a consensus of such on how to accomplish it.

Indeed. Pennsylvania is the second largest energy producer after Texas and exports a lot to large cities on the east coast.

I live in PA and am very familiar with the terrain. Has anyone driven across the state? It is the gateway to the west. Who is going to hold PA? There are only two routes across the Appalachians and Laurels. Pennsylvania will not be part of this dream and will be impossible to hold. Period.

Only Philadelphia will fall in this "game." The majority of PA do not see themselves as part of the northeast. Midwest? Maybe.

A tad off topic but three of my grandkids from New England attend college in PA-——three different schools. :-)

It is a great state. Well, at least 6 months of the year. Winters are getting longer. If we could just cut loose Philadelphia...

“Winters are getting longer.”

New Englanders don’t mind winters.

I’ve only been to PA twice, years ago,and one thing I remember was gorgeous stone houses. Odd,the things that stay in one’s mind.
