NOT A SPOILER, SPECULATION. I BELIEVE THE RUSSIAN SPIES TRAINED TO LIVE HER AND BECOME LIKE AMERICANS, WILL ACTUALLY BECOME REAL AMERICANS AT THE END OF THE SERIES BECAUSE THINGS WILL GO SOUR FOR THEM IN RUSSIA AND BECAUSE THEY WANT THEIR KIDS TOI STAY THERE. ANY OTHER THEORIES?
I'm currently living in Russia right now, and the few people that I've talked to that lament the end of the USSR (mostly older people) have this same complaint. I gather that the logic was that under Communism, your upward trajectory was limited, but life had a certain "predictability" that appealed to some personality types. This doesn't work for me, as my personality is more risk-taking and ambitious, but I guess I can understand the appeal to some, the implicit oppression against different-minded people notwithstanding.
One thing that I wish the millennial hipster Communist wannabes in the USA would understand was that in the USSR, unless you were physically or mentally disabled, not working/freeloading was not an option...everyone had to work, or else risk being jailed for social parasitism. All these kids who sit in hip coffee shops with their Macbooks all day would be working a factory line.
It has one more season? I thought the series ended last year. Checked TVGuide.com and see Season 6 starts Wednesday.
Will set TiVo accordingly, as I have not missed an episode.
Actually they had to a degree. They say the ending of the series is the one they came up with in the first season. They tried not to stay wedded to any ideas, letting the characters control, but they found themselves right at the ending they thought of. Great show. You can tell because nobody watches, great shows require too much thinking from the viewer.
That’s actually something they talk around in the show quite a bit. The tendency of the spies to “go native” and enjoy the luxuries and freedoms in the US compared to what they had.
Yeah I started at the beginning all no streaming or binging. I liked the tone. i liked the FBI across the street even though it was unlikely it was at times fun and comic, The russian babe that got sent back was very hot. i forget the actresses name. I like the way they show the paranoia of the soviet union.
Without spoiling it, Philip essentially retires from spy work, and the couple split. Paige and the lady KGB start working together, while the boys live a normal American lifestyle.
The wall falls, and who knows. It is essentially becomes a program about female spies working for the USSR in the US. Claudia and Paige develop their own relationship.
I think this is one of the best series ever in TV history. I thought NYPD Blue was good too, and it is very difficult to find the series anywhere. I found it in one place and forgot to DVR it. I need to start that.
watching the new season. ratcheting up the pressure and using real news events. The girl is very lib. Better and more background music. Keri still sizzling.
them spies be line dancin
It’s over. No more seasons.
It’s over. No more seasons.
I would have ended it differently. He would have been an instructor at a KGB training center. He would be sitting behind his desk and his new secretary shows up to report to him. It would turn out to be the one that he was married to that had to escape to Moscow. He looks up from his desk, shocked. She sees him, shocked. Then just fade to black.
I did not like the ending at all.
What a moving scene when Elizabeth sees Paige standing on the train platform as the train departs for Montreal.
Great series, one of the best I've ever watched.
yeah, it was quality tv and story telling.
The way they tied in actual events was perfect.
I could see Paige in a series, but that might be asking for too much. It was the parents and the FBI agent that kept me watching.
DirecTV has a channel called Audience. It has some original series. It is basically a direct produced channel. Lots of concerts. NYPD runs on it. But Directv is expensive for just one show.
Annet Mahendru
LOL get in line.

And the end of last season I was praying that Paige would run away from home and disappear forever———she annoyed me that much.
That said,I HATED the ending but also will miss the show——a lot.
.
I like that woman who plays the female spy. She's very attractive. But she doesn't look Russian. She's got quite the collection of wigs but I like her natural hair the best.
The FBI agent who lives next door is a lot like me in real life. Except I have darker hair. But I'm just as tall and large and I like to go see the neighbors after work with a six-pack of beer to share and mooch off of them for dinner if I can. Except during this chinese virus thing, many people don't like me coming over.
Her daughter Paige is a bit of a brat. But she's typical of American teenage girls. She'll grow up and be okay. Just my opinion.
Remember this takes place in the 1980's, Reagan's policies are profiled throughout the series.
It is just one of the best espionage series ever starring relatively unknown actors.
The more you watch the more you'll want more.
