President Donald Trump signed a $1.3 trillion spending measure Friday, averting a midnight government shutdown just hours after declaring he was considering a veto.
Trump said he was

Trump could have vetoed that bill and let the chips fall where they may, all the while serving this country and honoring our Constitution and the dead patriots who have gone before.
Trump betrayed us and the country he promised to serve. He failed.
Totally True Dat.
Well stated.
The GOPee neverTrumpers won.
Cruz could not win election.
Given the vote totals a veto would be overridden.
“If you want to get mad at someone get mad at Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell. This is their turd.”
What makes you think there’s only enough rage for only two people? Trump deserves just as much, perhaps more for signing it, especially after he took us for a ride and said that he might veto it.
We knew that Ryan and McConnell are RINOs, but we thought that Trump was on our side. He wasn’t even on his own side. He went against most of the things he ran on.
I remember Lee Rodgers, a great conservative talk show host from SF who passed away a few years ago, warning people never to fall in love with any politician - sooner or later they’ll betray you.
Trump, liar liar pants on fire! You’ve betrayed the people who voted for you. People who were ready to fight for you. May Mueller succeed!
Cruz would never have been president; Hillary would have won.
Calm down, Trump did it for a reason, we will find out soon and be totally surprised.
He was screwed by them, no doubt about it, but he also screwed himself by playing their game. He lied to us. MAGA isn’t real, it’s a lie.
The GOP is going to be gone in November, and as a result of that, I expect that Trump will be impeached and removed from office.
And as a result of the betrayal that occurred today, I’m not going to give one flying f*** when it happens.
It is clear that the problems this country faces are NOT going to be solved by elections.
He did it primarily for the military. Sequestration limits have hit readiness, manpower, and regular equipment purchases hard.
I was a Cruz guy, but I trust Trump. I think he will take this personally and come out balls to the wall against the people who put him in this position.
Go get em, PDJT!!!
Not much more? How about a veto? Make the scumbags come back.
If the Devil is in the fine print
Then every omnibus bill is just a chapter in Satan’s bible.
#I’m done with the GOP
Good points.
Trump just dodged being JFK’d .... IMO
Yes, it’s true that Trump always self-corrects or surprises when it looks like he stepped in it.
Several times in the 2015-2016 campaign and even coming into 2017, Trump infuriated his base, only to come out days if not hours later to turn it around.
It’s discomforting how he reaches decisions at times, but eventually, there is a rebonding with the base with a new understanding.
I predict he will very soon come out with a series of actions that will wipe the grins off his detractors and quell the unrest among his base.
I VOTED FISCAL CONSERVATIVE PRO-LIFE, PRO-FAMILY CONGRESSMAN.
AT LEAST ONE SENATOR DID NOT VOTE FOR IT...A DEMOCRAT?!
Oh and I called my “conservative pro-life” Rep and gave his office staff piece of my mind as I frequently do...This time the staffer was actually very frustrated and disappointed by the vote!
I also emailed Pres asking him to Veto...
Trump is not blameless, congress is not blameless....But they are all going on vacay and congress got a bonus!!!
Damned if do Damned if don’t? Where is the no vote? Where is the VETO? Where is the candidate I voted for? That would be both Pres and Congressman :(
You could tell by listening to President Trump during the signing he knew he shouldnt sign it. He knew better. He should have listened to himself.
Agree.
I pretty much agree with that, it’s going to take a total breakdown to bring the idiots to reality. I’m like you when it comes to Republicans, it’s all just one big party, and if they are looking for a ‘no turnout’ election, that’s what they’ll get. Let the Dems have it and turn the whole country into San Francisco, I’ll go camp in Montana or Wyoming.
