Prosecutors Monday released video of a Stillwater bail agent fatally shooting one of her clients last year at her office.
Chasity Dawn Carey was charged with first-degree murder after the shooting. On Friday, Payne County jurors acquitted Carey, 42, of Drumright, in the Aug. 9 shooting.
At trial, Carey testified she shot the client, Brandon James Williams, 38, of Stillwater, in self-defense. She and her 19-year-old son, Justin Henderson, were attempting to take Williams, who was free on bail, back into custody at the time.
Carey testified Williams attempted to grab her gun before fleeing out her office window. She said she beat Williams to the gun and turned to fire just as he was going out the window. She shot Williams in the back.
Carey's son set up his GoPro camera in the office moments before Williams arrived that day.

Glad that she help clear some scum.
As far as the camera goes, I would have at least flushed the SD Card down the drain, if not disposed of the entire camera. Hard to see how the video helped her.
.
She “got away with it” for the same reason that the police get away with it.
Constitutionally, there is zero difference between a private citizen and a cop.
The right to aprehend a criminal is a right solely of a citizen. There is no constitutional power of arrest outside that of every citizen.
The only constitutional arrest is the citizen’s arrest.
.
Hardly.
Few years ago, an Obama son got out of his car in a road rage incident & threatened to kill a man still in his car.
As the “son” went back to his car, the dude opened fire and hit the guy about 8 times - most in his back.
He wasn’t even charged. Happened in PA I believe.
There is no struggle for the gun in the video. He left the frame, she gets the gun out of her desk drawer and shoots him in the back. Where is the evidence that he was trying to get her gun?
.
The video proved that he resisted arrest. That was all that was necessary to a properly understanding jury.
.
It doesn't matter if he was, in anybody's estimation, a great all-around guy or a no-count white trash. Irrelevant. She killed an unarmed man by shooting him in the back. Was he trying to escape? Well, he was not a murderer (2nd degree burglary and possession of weed? C'mon) and attempted escape is not a capital offense.
.
Trying to get her gun would not be an issue.
Resisting a lawful arrest was the primary issue.
.
You’re assuming her intent was to kill.
That was definitely not in evidence, and absent proof that the event was staged to cause his death, she is acquitted.
.
Resisting arrest from a bail agent? Do they really have the right to shoot anyone who runs away from them?
Thanks for the info. What you said reminds me of Zimmerman. They overcharged him big time. The most they could have got Zimmerman on was negligent homicide.
Yea, you’re probably right - the penalty for evidence tampering is very high.
I admit ignorance of the law. If an unarmed person who’s supposed to be in custody is trying to escape, -— he’s moving away from you, back to you -— just for that reason alone you can shot him in the back?
Really?
Now we know the crime. What of the history?
About 30 years ago Minneapolis (my home town) had a liberal Democrat police chief (Tony Bouza). In a downtown altercation, a Minneapolis cop shot and killed a petty criminal who had a history of about half of his life in jail for such crimes as purse snatching.
Our media (Mpls Start/Tribune and St. Paul Piomeer Press plus the local broadcast news around the edges) were aghast at such police brutality. I don't remember that the cop we ever charged with anything.
Remember, Bouza was a LIBERAL Democrat. He said, "Look at it this way. Just know how many space invading crimes will now be avoided between now and the time this dead clown would have approached retirement age." He supported his cop. Today, that cop could plan on a lengthy prison sentence for murder.
Was Williams a career criminal? If not, I would really need to know how the defense attorney convinced the jury that Williams needed to die and it was a good thing.
LOL!
Wouldn’t it be a kicker if they managed a guilty verdict anyways?
Shooting an unarmed fleeing felon is a no go, unless it is known that the subject will go and inflict harm to another person. Tennessee vs Garner case many years ago determined when you can or cannot use DPF(Deadly Physical Force). If they were struggling for the weapon and it was used to defend yourself is one thing, but when the struggle ends and the bad guy is fleeing, then its up to the jury to decide. I hate these scum criminals, but this is the system we have.
Best to stay out of some areas, until they’re cleaned up (which can take a very long time). There are other areas somewhat near there that have been mobbed up, too, although some improvement has been seen.
1st degree manslaughter.
They over charged her on purpose.
