A few weeks ago we asked our readers to vote for their least favorite songs from the 1990s, so it was the obvious next move to dial it back 10 years and see what you guys hated in the 1980s. The results are sure to infuriate a lot of people. For the record, I personally disagree with most of these selections. In fact, I love a lot of these songs...
10. Rick Astley - 'Never Gonna Give You Up'...
9. Taco - 'Puttin' On The Ritz'...
8. Toni Basil - 'Mickey'...
7. Bobby McFerrin - 'Don't Worry Be Happy'...
6. Falco - 'Rock Me Amadeus'...
5. Men Without Hats - 'The Safety Dance'...
4. Wham! - 'Wake Me Up (Before You Go Go)'....
3. Chris de Burgh - 'Lady In Red'....
2. Europe - 'The Final Countdown'...
1. Starship - 'We Built This City'...

BTW, if you haven't already, check out the YouTube videos of Steve Hackett's current project. Genesis Revisited is what he calls it, or at least what he called one of the tours. He has a singer that resembles Robert Plant with long, wavy blonde hair that would give a young Peter Gabriel a run for his money vocally. Nick Beggs - of Kajagoogoo fame, since this thread is 80's-related - plays bass.
The 5 and 6 hold good memories for me. :-)
“Bette Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes. The worst song ever made.”
You may be right. That was allful. But any Michael Bolton song could make me piss blood. Was “When a Man Loves A Woman” a hit for him in the 80s or 90s?
By far the first decade for music.
“_Last Christmas was the worst.”
As if he had a girl friend.
I always think of it “Last Christmas I gave you my AIDS.”
Freedom 90 is one of the all time great videos.
Great song plus the Golden Age of supermodels. Fantastic!
You know what? Michael Bolton is alright with me. He actually did a funny video where he played “Michael Bolton” in Office Space.....

No kidding Di!
Thank God that was it for them. The song bugs me almost as much as the video. My husband downloads and shows the video to me and laughs at my anguish.
Worst decade
Especially if you sing.
Twisted Sister,
Sister Christian,
I think I’m Turning Japanese,
Jump,
Ebony and Ivory,
Do They Know It’s Christmas,
Relax (Don’t Do It),
and on - and on...
I guess we are in the minority but I can hear anyone of them and it brings the good old ‘80s back. Yes, they are super silly at an adult vantage point though especially with the accompanying MTV Video.
Yes but it was fun driving to Philadelphia to participate in one of the most successful events in history. Hands across America. They say 96 percent of the country participated that day. So exciting.
And compared to what JayZ and his ilk are inflicting on us today, these 10 are classics - count your blessings.....
Kharma Chameleon video is kinda cool for this old fool.
I quit watching MTV right about this time this piece of garbage kept running all the time.
And what about all that fag crap in the 80s, like “Bronski Beat” and “Erasure”.
Chris de Burgh - ‘Lady In Red’

At number 3? What? So it’s the third most hated? I’ll bet all of the votes were from men, then. I have yet to meet a woman who does not like that song. Not that I poll every woman I meet, of course.
I am a woman, and, for me, that song epitomizes what a woman wants to hear from the man she loves.
