It seems that the Black Panther movie has done such a good job of immersing audiences in its world that many people think it's real.
Two hotel booking sites have revealed that site searches for the word 'Wakanda' the name of the fictional African country the movie is set in have risen dramatically.
Hotelscan.com reported that the number of people landing on its Wisconsin Wakanda Water Park page is up by 620 per cent and Hotels.com reported that searches for neighbouring Wakanda Park are up by 55 per cent year on year.
A spokesperson for hotelscan.com commented: 'The fact we've seen such an increase in the number of site visits to the Wakanda Water Park destination page on our website since the launch of Black Panther suggests that, until people visit our website searching for trips, they're not aware it's a fictional destination.

Ping.
Thanks.
Didn’t I read that it was a technologically advanced African country? The few countries* that ever had a slight chance to become that have been in reverse for years.
My list is Kenya, Egypt, and South Africa.
Liberalism: Where fantasy and reality never meet................
Let’s go there once we find it.
Percentage without numbers means nothing. Could have gone from 3 to 19.
This tells me there are a lot of stupid people out there.....................
Haven’t seen the movie yet. The Wakanda of the comics is the embodiment of capitalism and self-suffiency.
Pardon me, but would you have any Tide pods?
Racist stupid people.
Really? Africa is a sh*thole. I like the safari tours though. I’ve never been to a foreign country where the security guards instantly tell me to “not go there” (to some places they show on this nice tourist map)..
Oh Lawd, please stop the dumbness.
That’s why I said slight chance. Those were the few African countries that weren’t always dung heaps and out of all of them, those once had the best chance of joining the 21st century.
You can guess this from the people who went to see it in droves. And those people said that the movie was made specifically for them.
I got a call into Elizabeth Holmes to see if she’d CEO a luxury hotel and resort in Wakanda...
Redirect them to Liberia and tell them it’s just as nice.
We wuz kangz.
