Joe Bastardi says the Northeast can expect snow right up to Easter, all the way thru the middle Atlantic States.
That was todays daily summary.
Then, summer he says is going to be hot and dry, with most serious heat and drought in Texas (following his historical alogorhythems patterns of the past)

what is silliness mitigation?
I’m making sloppy joes in crockpot. New recipe never tried it before. Just got hungry for sloppy joe - weird craving. Haven’t had any since I quit teaching almost 40 years ago.
The bathroom light shorted out 2 days ago. I thought it was just a lightbulb that needed changed, but nope put in a new one, and flipped the switch and poof - sparks and threw a breaker.
Hoping hubby can fix it - might need a new light.
The projections for the grand solar minimum that we are in indicates that the growing seasons are likely to be shorter.
Also the corn belt etc. shifting slightly south. Possible more snowy and cold on the NE Coast. I have no idea if that’s correct. The info/proofs they gave was over my head.
I just looked at the problem 2 minutes ago, and I overtightened (the silliness) a connector, so I have to repair (mitigate) the minor short. Pull some wire and reconnect the box, all should be good.
I like using the occasional obscure word and/or phrase.
Drought - that’s why we bought a swimming pool from Walmart on sale. The drought of 2012 - we had wonderful garden growing lots of wild blackberries.
Had to watch it all burn up because the rain barrels rain out mid May instead of end of Aug. Now we catch water from the roof in the swimming pool - 4000 gallons.
I do NOT blame the messenger.
I’m a meteorologist myself and know what’s involved in weather forecasting.
I can get the peas in as soon as the ground is workable.
Everything else requires a good start in a greenhouse.
A hot dry summer may mean a good tomato crop, something we’ve not had in years due to a cool summer last year and other summers with problems with blight cause of heavy dew from cool nights and not warm enough days.
Don’t blame the messenger - that was what the confidential source said to me. LOL
That’s true, and I really missed those really really good maters. A silver lining. LOL
Yep, in the bag cooling downstairs - right next to my cooking garlic (pizza time this weekend).
I have 5 cans of Sloppy Joe sauce in the emergency food supply.
2-3 need to be used up this year. So it’s going to be a Sloppy Joe spring.

If possible, I’d suggest tasting walking onions before you decide to grow them. According to the onion-eaters in my family, they have a bitter core. And some of the layers are tough, even after being cooked.
Maybe it was something in my soil that did that, but they turn invasive fast enough that you’ll want to be sure you like them. They’re hard to get rid of if you don’t.
There are other perennial onions to choose from other than the walking kind.
I was kind of expecting a drought. Thank you for passing that along.
Around here I’ve noticed that, in terms of severity, winter will follow summer. While in terms of precipitation, summer will follow winter.
We haven’t had much snow this winter, so we probably won’t get much rain this summer.
I’m growing snow in the backyard- it’s doing wonderfully- snow is everywhere- should be a bumper crop this year

Need to pull weeds out from mint and oregano because they are almost dead from cold and choking on weeds.
Italian parsley and garlic chives are hanging in there.
Sage is starting to look really good-it was kind of sorry looking in fall but coming around-I think it's on its 3rd year.
No signs of life in the asparagus bed....
Garlic and onions are still hanging on-those were planted last fall. I was never good at growing onions and these probably will be puny because I used bulbs instead of sets. They are ref onions, which are my favorite.
I am missing my oven! On Tuesday, the heating element crapped out after impersonating a combo of an arc welding light and a grease fire! My stove is usually really clean so I thought it was odd there was a fire in the oven.
From what I read, I'm lucky I caught it in time. It only got the front left corner of the heating element. I was prepping other dinner items, noticed the arcing and fire(?) and shut it off right away. Sometimes they go really quick and burn all the way around the element, wiping out ground and terminal too. Can start fires if not stopped in time or oven is filthy.
Got a new one ordered for 20.00. It should be here on Tuesday or Wednesday and then I'll hopefully have my oven back. I need to bake some bread like yesterday that store bread is nasty.
I had that happen once, and had to get a new oven. It took a while to save some money, find a decent price, and get the delivery set up - it was for the basement apartment, so had to be ordered by the store.
Anyway, I wanted some biscuits and a chocolate cake really bad. So I took the blue granite ware stockpot, put a lb of cheap salt in the bottom. Put 3 canning rings in bottom for trivit.
Put stuff in cake pan with another turned upside down. Top with the lid. This makes an oven on the stove top. Method is used in 3rd world countries. I have also used it on my rocket stove for testing for electrical outages.

Before I even heard about the GSM, I started building a couple greenhouses. One will be fully insulated and heated, the other will be heated and cooled with Geothermal, air to air system that I'm building now. All will be powered by solar electricity. If anyone is interested I can post some pics.
I have several fruit trees growing, Mango, Lemon, Lime, Avocado. Lots of strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and of course the veggies. I also grow lots of butternut squash because its so good and lasts for a long time. I still have a couple from last summer ready to cook!
Other than that I've been raking up sweet gum tree gum balls.
So far I've picked up 7 thirty gallon trash cans full of them and I have a lot more to rake. I love the tree but I hate those spiky devil balls.
