Five years ago, when actor Michael Douglas candidly revealed that his throat cancer was linked to having oral sex, two things happened.
He made headlines that mortified his family. And he helped publicize the fact that a pervasive, sexually transmitted virus called HPV was unleashing an epidemic of oral cancer among men.
Since then, scientists have made headway in figuring out why HPV, the human papillomavirus, has this glaring gender bias. Men are four times more likely than women to be diagnosed with oral cancer, a hard-to-detect, hard-to-treat disease that has overtaken cervical cancer as the most common HPV-related malignancy in the United States.
To be sure, changes in sexual norms over the last few generations have played a role in this alarming trend. But research increasingly shows the real problem is something men have practically no control over: their immune response.

Please be aware of the limitations of test results. For example....how old is the lab test...or how sensitive is it..or how many false negatives can be possible..Also be aware that as soon as presenting test results is very common..that someone is surely gonna counterfeit a lab report...not difficult with todays computers and printers.sorry bout the cynicism...but the world aint always pretty.
Douglas was being a smart ass when he said he had oral cancer and it was caused by him going down on his much younger beautiful wife. He had already admitted a couple years earlier he had tongue cancer. You can bet your bottom dollar it was caused by smoking.
Can’t be. The MSM/CDC/GOV was trying to tell us that HPV was strictly a womyn’s health issue to take debate out of it and tell men to STFU.

Well, we live in a free country so you’re free to leave your virginal, chaste children unvaccinated for HPV and I’ll have (actually already have) mine vaccinated for HPV for the simple reason that I love them and want to protect them as much as possible.

Yes. Not quite the direct correlation that is presented.
There are some contradictions in the narrative which says the problem is the male immune response to the virus. That brings up the question, is perhaps then the male response to vaccine, which mimics in infection and subsequent immune response, also not robust?
For the record I say that people who are concerned they will expose themselves to HPV ought to get vaccinated.

You make it sound like children have no choice but to have sex with people they don’t know well.
I understand we do live in the liberal fundamentally transformed USA where even children have promiscuous sexual encounters.
Not all, by any means still, thankfully.
If anyone behaves in such a manner they ought to be vaccinated for HPV.
That still wouldn’t confer 100% guarantee but would help them.

There are a few strain of HPV that are particularly virulent. But yes, most strains of HPV clear up on their own.
Yes. Only fools don’t realize that all viruses mutate. The vaccines available today won’t be effective for the viruses of the future.
