This email starts innocently enough. Don't open it!
He apparently found and infected me with something he calls a "Log 1 virus".
This is, I guess, done via adult Web sites that feature video types "webrtc" and "ja.scr". He says it happens when you hit the play button.
He alleges to be active with this malware on approximately 4,938 sites. (No, I've never visited that many in my life!)
He threatens to ruin my social status (I wasn't aware I had one) by showing a captured split screen featuring the vid I supposedly watched, alongside vid of me masturbating while watching this.
That should prove interesting!
He wants $450 in bitcoin, and obligingly includes his bitcoin wallet number.
He's given me 3 days, since he says (and I quote) TP is within this HTML file so it will inform me whenever you open it!
My email doe not utilize HTML.
He closes by saying he takes his privacy extremely serious, so I can call the police or whatever, it makes no difference to him.
Oh, yeah. He also says he can utilize my device as the dedicated server.
Well, at any rate, has anyone else gotten one of these? I've been looking it up online, but so far nothing.
In any event, if you see this email header in your mail box, delete it. (That's just my suggestion.)
Of course, any and all comments are welcome.

“You should definitely go through this email just before something awful may occur”
You call that ‘innocently enough’?
Malwarebytes
Windows Defender
Spybot Search and Destroy
In that order. It will probably take about 20 hours to run through the series, but you should be in pretty good shape when you finish.
Cost, zero.
By the way, why don’t you post the bitcoin wallet information.
You’re sure your PC camera was off? lol
The joys of running Linux.
Thanks for the reply!
Malwarebytes fond nothing.
I’m going to run Defender in about 10 minutes.
Then Spybot.
Again, I thank you for your help. It is appreciated!
I’ll let you know how this pans out.

I don’t know - I can’t see what the original post was that caused the problem.
This may be it, and if it is, it sure looks extensive!
Do you recommend joining this forum?
Thanks!

Once I get this thing squared away, maybe then... CA....
No maybe about it, post the bitcoin wallet info and let hell be unleashed on the jackass
Another user of this machine picked up a ransomware and a trojan a few weeks ago. I was surprised that Malwarebytes didn’t find them but a full scan with the Windows built in antivirus did. (Do the full scan, not just the express version.)
You’re being phished. Just forget about it. And don’t pay any attention to emails from people you don’t know.
Why, were you watching? Ha, paranoid joke.
My wife got one a month ago similar. It is a bluff and took it to Geek Squad just to make sure. Called 10 times a day for two weeks wanting $499.
1st question: Do you have an ex-wife?
Post it on 4 chan. Those guys love puzzles
” This email starts innocently enough. “
Starts with: It was a dark and stormy night?
I never open any message that doesn’t come from a source I recognize. It goes right into the delete folder!
Windows built-in antivirus? I’m not familiar with that.
I use Avast Premium.
Anything to do with Windows Defender?
