How far would you go to save your favorite feline?
Would you give up a new car? Cut back living expenses? Dip into your children

I hate cats just as much as the next guy. Thats just several levels of stupid.

Would you do it for your kid? That is how many people feel about their cats.
You may not agree but that does not invalidate their feelings.

Ummm, this is like taking the KID’S liver (w/ the [lifetime] medical care required post-donation) and prolonging grand-pa’s life....for another year/two.
2nd, as another already said, putting a 17yr old animal through this type of operation borders on cruelty.
>>As emotionally attached to the cat as she was, do you really want this person teaching children?<<
Why not? Just because you don’t agree with her she is not qualified?
How I choose to use my money is my issue. How she chooses to use her money is her issue. When her car breaks down she will “suffer” the results of her choice.
People with no kids and with pets frequently substitute the pets as kids. And they make decisions accordingly.
As someone else noted this may have been silly but it is not “stupid.” Just a different value than you assign.
I wonder how long the cat was on the donor list?
>>2nd, as another already said, putting a 17yr old animal through this type of operation borders on cruelty.<<
I just don’t agree. My cat had some operations when she was 20+ and recovered just fine.
And I bet the cat still ignores her and believes it is her superior in all things.
I wouldn’t want some mush brained new age rainbow chick who thinks her cat is her spirit animal guiding her through life anywhere near my kids.
We love our cats, and spend a little more money on their care than we probably should (no kids), but this is ridiculous. We knew when the Rainbow Bridge has been the only option.
>>I wouldnt want some mush brained new age rainbow chick who thinks her cat is her spirit animal guiding her through life anywhere near my kids.<<
She said “like my spirit animal” and was specific to how it has been there with her for her trials and tribulations.
Damn — you just hate cats and cat people.
That is what this is really about.
I grew up on a farm in the 60’s. Pets were pets. Livestock got vets.
altruism + sacrifice = irrationality
Wow, it’s her money, not taxpayers. While I wouldn’t do it, she can spend her money any way she wants and it’s really no one else’s business.
*** Its Betsy Boyds money - she can spend it any way she wants to... ***
Exactly.
With the evidence presented, I might agree with the cat.
Many cats at 17+ years (or less) develop kidney problems...I consider this RESEARCH $$ to the Vet...would we do it? NO..(Had a chance to twice with a couple of our furry friends)...but it is HER choice...as long as the government doesn’t fund her lifestyle in the Future, it’s HER money. I wouldn’t loan her $$ either....
I myself don’t like cats, but it is her money and as long as she is still able to feed, cloth, and provide for her actual children without government assistance, I could care less.
I personally wouldn’t do it. If she cared that much of her cat, she should have purchased pet health insurance.
I love cats but this was stupid. At 17, the cat's already quite old and won't live too much longer anyway. But, it's her money.
That's odd. My accelerator tends to get stuck pedal to the metal when a dog crosses in front of me.
Cats are the Hitler of the animal kingdom. The only thing that stops them from world domination is the lack of opposable thumbs.
They follow the guidelines of the organ donor program in China.
Cats think so.
