Speaking at the Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards in London on Monday, British Horseracing Authority (BHA) chief Nick Rust said the sport needs to question whether it has a problem with “unconscious bias”.
The betting industry bigwig slammed figures which showed that nine in 10 of the 265 nominations received for the awards, which mark the contributions of around 6,000 people who work in Britain’s horse racing and breeding industries, were from a white British or Irish background.
“We need to look at what lies behind this and ensure far better representation across the various minority groups in future years,” the Racing Post reported Rust as saying.

Before they should do this, they should attack the winter Olympics for being too white, that unless a proportional number of blacks and Hispanics are represented equivalent to their percent of their population in the world, than the winter Olympics are “racist”.

And yet, their Christmas adverts featured mostly bi-racial families...who were not South Asians and white, instead they were Afro-brits and Whites. I get the propaganda, esp since Harry is marrying a biracial woman, they wanted to get out in front and normalize the picture.
However, I have found an over representation on their tv series... 'Vera' for example, is set in Northumberland, an area that is .98% black and yet some of the episodes feature multiple black characters relative to very few generic South Asians.
Oh, and apparently the love of period dramas is the problem British tele is so white...
I am quite sure that the HORSES could care less what the skin color of those owning and handling them are. This is just a pathetic attempt to stir up racial trouble. Go back under your rock, Rusty.

Did it ever occur to Mr. Rust that most northern European nations never had minorities of color living in them in significant numbers until recent decades? Gee, could that have something to do with minorities not being involved in horse racing, i.e., not being in the British Isles in the first place, and not developing an interest in the sport when they got there? There seem to be plenty of men of color playing cricket and soccer, though.
Furthermore, WHY AREN’T THERE MORE WOMEN JOCKEYS in English horse racing? When are you going to address this sexism, Mr. Rust?
Maybe they could try zebra racing.
And I suppose rainbow unicorns are just too multicolored.

They did the same thing to “Midsomer Murders” a few years ago. I’m sure the average rural, agricultural village in England is just overflowing with minorities of color (not).
A er... black jockey? Is that not racist if a statue is made of him and put on the lawn at the race track or club? : )
