Bradie Tennell fell. Mirai Nagasu fell. Karen Chen had to put her hand down on the ice to stop herself from falling. Three American skaters. Three errors they likely wont be able to recover from here at the Olympics short program Wednesday. Im mad, said Nagasu, who is ninth place. Im upset. I am not going to lie, I am pretty disappointed in myself, said Chen, who is in 10th. Were all human, said Tennell, who is in 11th. We make mistakes. The United States hasnt won a medal in ladies figure skating since 2006, when Sasha Cohen took silver. Barring a miraculous comeback, that streak will extend to 2022 in Beijing. Its a major fall from grace for U.S. Figure Skating, which was once an international powerhouse.

I still say instead of marching under their Nations’ flags, they should march under the flag of the US university they attended. You’d be surprised how many of the “foreign” athletes actually attended US universities.
I doubt that will happen. As much as some don't want to admit it, athletic ability is not spread evenly among the races and ethnic groups around the world. And environmental factors will always give groups advantages in various sports such as North European winter sports competitors and Kenyan distance runners. And there are also variations in size among various groups.
Sports competition might be one of the few areas where US "diversity" actually is a strength.
I'll answer my own question. Yes, there is a Jamaican bobsled team in South Korea this year, a women's team. Haven't seen anything about a men's team after a quick look around.
The Winter Games are primarily made up of sport Americans aren’t interested in. When a population isn’t interested in a sport their best athletes don’t play it, when the best athletes don’t play it the country does poorly in international competition, which helps retard interest in the sport. We stink at these sports the other 3 years too.
Plus there’s been a lot of disdainment for the Winter Games, with stuff like #WinterOlympicsSoWhite
That’s why the USOC went out of their way to try to have a team that “Looks Like America” instead of sending our best, and well, you see the results.
Olympic track & field would be dominated by the SEC. Many Caribbean sprinters go to Miami, Florida, Tennessee and so forth. How many international basketball players play at Oregon, Kentucky, Georgetown?
That's exactly the angle the MSM will take when they blame this whole debacle on global warming and Trump's refusal to "solve" it. :)
Jamaica entered the bobsled competition some time ago (”Cool Runnings”), and then Nigeria this time out....
On the men’s side, Ross Minor (2nd at US Nationals) got bumped for Adam Rippon (4th). Ashley Wagner got 4th among the women (and no Olympic berth), but she got the Bridgestone Tire endorsement.
Someone mentioned the less subjective scoring system. Of course it was necessary to switch to a bean-counting system after the French judge was caught not watching the competition and giving out a high score anyway. The bean-counting system would seem to favor athletic routines over artistic routines.
“Now, of course, I cant even find out what channel the Olympics are on.”
LoL!
Well they are very busy. http://time.com/5137272/condoms-at-olympics/
I have rad from 30 to 75 condominiums pet athlete. Thats way more than hats needed for a once in a lifetime competition iMHO.
Honestlycondoms over 2 weeks is in itself a rare and almost a national event in itself. Thying to figure skate after - foget about it.
People are joking here about “Trump” being the reason why figure skaters (and U.S. athletes) are doing less well — I think there could be some validity to that.
I do NOT mean Trump the individual - but Trump as the embodiment of cultural transition. When a country as dynamic as ours is going through the kind of identity-crisis and soul-searching we’re doing, it’ll even reflect in things like athletics. We’re in a bit of flux and this will affect how athletes operate as a team and how athletes carry themselves as representatives of this country: their sense of purpose, their confidence...Maybe subconsciously?
But maybe the flux will pave way for a renewed sense of strength and focus later on.
It’s “artistic” in its own way” but women’s hockey is pretty compelling and Team USA is doing beautifully! It’s in overtime though and rather distressing.
Pretty valid argument
Who here isn’t affected when something weighs greatly on them?
and these ###holes likely hate Trump and it’s ####ing them up
maybe even the ones who love Trump are getting ####e up because there is a soft coup attempt going on in their country
Never forget the hockey win.
we’ll be back. you’ll see
