For years scholars have debated what inspired William Shakespeares writings. Now, with the help of software typically used by professors to nab cheating students, two writers have discovered an unpublished manuscript they believe the Bard of Avon consulted to write King Lear, Macbeth, Richard III, Henry V and seven other plays. The news has caused Shakespeareans to sit up and take notice.

It is a matter of eternal regret that discussion of the artistic merits of “Our American Cousin” will be overshadowed by the one unrelated incident that marred its showing in DC that one spring evening in 1865.

I had this thought as well.
This is "human interest" stories at its best.
I have always hated the suckiness of the nonsensical NYT politics.
But for some reason, they DO have articles that are real gems, so long as they can control themselves from inserting politics.
Unfortunately rare, but when they can tame their hysteria demons, sometimes they do a nice job.
The NYT magazine in the Sunday edition *used* to be one of my favorite things to read
. It includes interesting stories, book reviews, and the cherry on top, the NYT Sunday crossword puzzle.
