Apostrophe'
Frank Zappa ^ | '72 | Frank Zappa

Posted on 02/15/2018 11:18:06 PM PST by Eddie01

This is for those devoted but more so uninitiated.

I feel bad posting this work as Frank's larger catalog is extensive.

For me this is 101 stuff, insanely rudimentary but wonderful.

Enjoy.

What’s the ugliest part of your body
What’s the ugliest part of your body
Some say your nose
Some say your toes
But I think it’s your mind
I think it’s your mind

Yes, Apostrophe. That would be the crux of the biscuit.

Gotta love Zappa. I’ve been listening to him since I was 13 or 14. One of my first albums was Apostrophe.

At St Alphonso’s pancake breakfast, where I stole the margarine. At least that’s the way I remember it. And stay away from the yellow snow.

Who you jivin’ with that Cosmik Debris?

Freak Out is still my favorite Zappa album (More Trouble Every Day still rings true after all these decades). Apostrophe and Over-Nite Sensation would be my second and third favorites. Saw him perform three times between 1978-1983; truly memorable experiences.

It is a shame he passed away so young. Popular culture and politics would have provided him with a lot of material for song writing.

Saw him in the 80’s in a theater in Muskegon MI.

You are what you is time frame.

Scott Thunes on bass time frame.

By then, I had heard everything he had done.

Good show. Not Baby Snakes good, but good.

Was Find Her Finer off Zoot Allures

Too lazy to look. Love that album too.

Favorite song for me surprisingly is off Bongo Fury

Cucamonga:

Out in Cucamonga
Many years ago
Near a Holy Roller Church
There was once a place
Where me and a couple of friends
Began practicing for the time
We might go
(YEAH AH-AH... YEAH AH-AH
WELL WELL
YEAH AH-AH... YEAH AH-AH
WELL WELL
YEAH AH-AH... YEAH AH-AH)
On TV
And as fate would have it
Later on we got a chance to play,
All we ever really knew
All we ever really knew
All we ever really knew
That it was crazy
(Nanook-a, no no)
(Yoo-hoo-hoo yoo-hoo yoo!)
To be doin’ it any other way
That it was crazy
(Nanook-a, no no)
To be doin’ it any other way
That it was crazy
(Nanook-a, no no)
To be doin’ it any other way
Yes, it was CRAZY, CRAZY
Ooooh... WAH...

Thanks man.

Bongo Fury was on heavy rotation for a while (I have favorites that come and go). One of my favorites.

If I was pressed for a favorite song it would be Cucamonga.

Sam was a showing scalp flattop particular about the Point it made.

The moment I read “Willie The Pimp”, the opening bars started playing in my head!

Thanks for the earworm, now I have to bear with it while mudding the new downstairs room.
