Social Media claims another “victim”.
Watch the video...this chick deserves to get canned for her attitude toward paying customers without even knowing the facts.
People with nose rings are not psychologically stable.
Weve never seen anybody expect a tip for a takeout order before. But even if its customary there, the waitress has absolutely no business complaining and certainly not publicly. . Tips are voluntary contributions or expressions, NOT entitlements. Id fire her right away
I’m a big believer in tipping well. These folks make around $2.35 an hour. That’s a lot of work packing up that many meals. I feel her pain. That was incredibly tacky not to tip on a $700 bill.
I’d say it was up to the Outback Mgmt. to add a gratuity to the total right up front when the order was made to insure that a waitperson who depends on tips is properly compensated if they pulled her off of serving tables to assemble the to go order.
That being said, I don’t believe she filled that order all by her lonesome and getting all pissy online while a big Millennial thing is just crass. She should have griped to the managers that assigned her the order over her reduced earnings.
The tip pays for table service. No table service, no tip. I tip very very well for good service so no Scrooge here!
I disagree with tipping for take out. They dont clean, set a table, wait on you or bus after. Maybe if you could tip the cooks directly they should get something but IMO 15% or more for great service is not merited or justified for take out.
I once hosted a very important business meeting at a restaurant with fine food. The service was horrible - so bad that my guests suggested I not leave a tip. I nevertheless left her something like twenty dollars (if the service were better I would have left 30 for that lunch ). Anyway she actually came running out to the street demanding I give her more! We were all amazed, and Im ever do grateful my business guests realized we were dealing with a very ungrateful nut case - it wasnt my fault. The owner fired the waitress The owner insisted on giving me a little hand- made booklet. I examined it and it was a coupon book for ten free lunches for two. ! The owner was so embarrassed! (I gave it back, with thanks. ). Waiters may need tips and Im sympathetic. But they still have to provide decent service. The jobs can get difficult during peak meal hours but they dont require any rocket science.
Some “friend” she has. It’s one thing to have your rant on a personal page, but to have someone else, unbeknownst to you, get involved is a final insult. I’d drop the “friend” fast.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes, lady.
I’m a big tipper in real life, having been a waitress myself, but it would not occur to me to tip for a takeout order. I would assume the food was prepared and assembled by kitchen staff rather than table servers, who are busy serving at tables.
(If the table server was free because nobody was at the tables, then she was not losing tips by helping arrange a takeout order.)
When I saw the title, the first thing I thought was they probably did not know you were supposed to tip. I would not have.
Back around 1974, I got a call from an oil company in Tulsa. We lived there at the time. It turned out someone had found our checkbook.
I followed directions and to my surprise, I was standing in the executive suite talking to the president of the company.
He gave me the checkbook and I thanked him. It was one of their employees who found it.
Maybe ten years later I thought about it and it hit me that I might should have left a tip. Still not sure.
Bzzt! You are doing a lot more work - refilling drinks, taking away dishes, checking on what else I want - when I eat in. I've never tipped for a carry out order, but then most of the time that is just a pizza or a bag or two of food handled by the kitchen staff rather than a waitress. I would probably tip for a multi-hundred dollar carryout order because a lot more people are involved.
restaurants sometimes build in automatic tips for groups of more than 4 or 6 people.
I’ve never left a tip on takeout before.
I am no expert but it seems normal for one to tip for a delivery but not if you pick it up yourself.
And I've tipped take-out orders too.
You always tip based on the service that was done.
Very unprofessional.
