Weve never seen anybody expect a tip for a takeout order before. But even if its customary there, the waitress has absolutely no business complaining and certainly not publicly. . Tips are voluntary contributions or expressions, NOT entitlements. Id fire her right away
Probably just a Christian hater.
I tip a the wait staff because:
* I take their time to ask questions about the menu
* I expect them to bring my food promptly but not if there’s something wrong with it
* I expect my drink to always have something in it
* In general I expect prompt service when I know their time is shared with other customers
None of which is true for a pick-up order. I don’t tip for pick-ups, nobody is doing anything but cashing me out.
Several eat-in and carry out small pizza and sub shops near me have a TIPS jar on the counter. That leaves it up to the customer to decide if they want to contribute.
If you are a “regular” customer and like the service/products, then it would be nice to leave a tip once in a while. The workers would appreciate it and I guarantee you are not forgotten.
Tips are voluntary contributions or expressions, NOT entitlements.

Not as long as they are paid less than 20% of minimum wage and paying withholding and Social Security on 15%+ of their gross sales. If you can’t leave 15-20% of your bill, eat at home instead of punishing wait staff for your presence !!
