Regime, terror group maintain tactical cooperation in areas where fighting is expressly forbidden
Syrias Assad regime, backed up by Russian fighter jets and the Daesh terrorist group, have seized over 3,000 square kilometers of opposition-held territory in southern and southeastern Idlib within the last three months, according to measurements carried out by Anadolu Agency.
Regime forces secured eastern Hama in October of last year, allowing Daesh terrorists to enter several parts of Idlib, which is held by opposition forces and armed anti-regime groups.
Operating in coordination, both Daesh and Assad regime forces have advanced far into Idlib following three months of intensive Russian airstrikes on opposition positions.
According to cartographical measurements conducted by Anadolu Agency, regime forces have seized roughly 3,035 square kilometers in eastern and southeastern Idlib, leaving Daesh in control of over 100 villages in the area.
Such actions on the part of the Assad regime constitute blatant violations of a cease-fire agreement endorsed by Ankara, Moscow and Tehran during earlier peace talks held in Kazakh capital Astana.
While both Daesh and Assad regime forces advance into southeastern Idlib, Russian fighter jets continue to pound opposition-held positions in the region.
Located in northern Syria near the border with Turkey, Idlib falls squarely within a network of de-escalation zones -- guaranteed by Turkey, Russia and Iran -- in which acts of aggression are expressly prohibited.
Held largely by armed anti-regime groups, the province has remained the target of fierce airstrikes for the last three months.
In January alone, 211 civilians were reportedly killed -- and another 1,447 injured -- by continued attacks by the regime and its allies.
Syria has only just begun to emerge from a devastating conflict that began in early 2011, when the Assad regime cracked down on pro-democracy protests with disproportionate force and unexpected ferocity.
Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed in the conflict, while millions more have been forced to flee from their homes, according to statements by UN officials.
This is comical propaganda. This is Syrian territory!! It belongs to the sovereign nation of Syria. Syria destroyed isis. It doesnt fight with isis.
err - John MCain supplies ISIS
this is just some cr@p from the turkies, don’t waste your time.
Funny thing, “daesh” (isis/alqeada) were being supported by Turkey.
So how close is this civil war to being over? It’s been like seven years now.
Assad founded Daesh with Saddam’s Baath terrorists to overtake Iraq. Assad’s state oil workers were on Assad’s pay roll pumping oil for ISIs. Assad released from prison the worst of islamists to help a crack down on Syrian students protesting.
This not only is not propaganda it fairly logical
How could this be Turkish crap when this is verified by the YPJ
Assad has always worked with IsIs
Wow the Rusky Assad globalist communist imperialist cockroaches are out in force
Turkish government’s propaganda, very interesting.
Thanks- I was just wondering “ WTF”?
Someone trying to say Assad = ISIS?
Um, no
Why was ISIS defeated in Iraq first?
Why has ISIS fled into Syrian controlled territories, the Putin fanboys can’t fool us with their usual lies.
Shoebat says that isn’t Baghdadi, it doesn’t look like him.
You mean the leader of ISIS is still running around? The one the Russians said they killed?
US just bombed and killed one hundred, 100, pro-Assad forces per news reports.
Every time I’ve seen this picture I always wonder who the guy inside the door with his arms crossed is.
Thats an old picture
Some of these dirt bags are being tortured by their 7 virgins
There was a whole series of photos from inside McCain meeting with these CIA assets
Wonder who took them and for what audience?
Typo
72 virgins
This is one of the most dishonest “news” articles I have ever read my entire life. The absurd implication that the Syrian government and ISIS are fighting on the same side is a complete, 100% lie.
ISIS fighters being pushed out of Eastern Syria spread into some rebel held areas and took over because they already had supporters and sleeper cells in those areas. Most of the front lines in Syria are not like WWI. These lines snake many hundreds of miles though remote deserts and mountains. Groups of fighters can infiltrate across them.
This false propaganda is part of a larger neocon drive to get America more deeply involved in Syria.
OP should apologize for posting an article that is nothing but one big lie.
On another note, there are a small number of bad actors here on FR who are spamming massive amounts of neocon propaganda everyday. These clowns want more wars in the Middle East and even want war with Russia. They are old people who didn’t support Trump until after he won the primary and who have learned nothing from the disaster that was the George W. Bush administration. Those of us who are not yet senile to need to stand up to these elderly neocons and tell them to shove their crazy American Last wars where the sun don’t shine.
Thanks nickcarraway. There's nothing new about this -- for years Assad's army has stayed out of ISIS' fights with al-Qaeda and other jihadists, and of course stayed away from the Kurdish fight (like it is doing now, when the Kurds' adversary is Turkey).
