A federal inmate was caught sneaking back into a Beaumont prison with a duffle bag full of snacks, fruit, liquor and tobacco Thursday. The U.S. Marshals and Jefferson County Sheriffs office were acting on a tip when they set up a surveillance operation on private property near the prison. Officers watched as a vehicle drove onto the land and dropped off a large duffle bag. Then, about two hours later, they watched an inmate from The Federal Correctional Complex escaped from the prison and grabbed the duffle. The deputies and marshals descended on the inmate and confiscated the bag. Inside they found three bottles of brandy, a bottle of whiskey, bags of Bugler tobacco, packaged snacks and a large amount of home cooked food.

Aww, he missed his mama's cookin'.
I don’t see what the big deal is, he was going to serve his time, it’s not like he was escaping or anything. Maybe they are just pissed because he was cutting in to their Action on distributing contraband to prisoners.
Looks like pretty good eating. I don’t really blame him.
Am I mistaken or does this prisoner get some kind of Darwin Award? Or at least Dumb Criminal award?
I mean, he “escapes” to collect some food nearby, but then comes back?
Kind of like the Bud Light commercial circulating now...”you came back?”
Like that scene from Goodfellas.
Dang - looks pretty good...
If he escapes, he'll be the subject of a huge manhunt. And he will be found. And he'll do extra time ... hard time ... for the escape.
If he sneaks out, picks up some goodies, and sneaks back in ... unnoticed ... he'll do his time. And it will be less unpleasant. And be a hero to his fellow inmates. And he'll be released at the end of his sentence.
Tough luck. He got caught. He gambled ... and lost.
“The rancher who contacted authorities is Michael Latta. He’s a 5th-generation cattle rancher and farmer. He says specializes on cows, rice, soybean, and jokingly he said inmates. Latta says he’s been dealing with prisoners coming in and out of the prison facility for 18 years.
Latta said, “I have contacted congressmen, senators, I’ve talked to every warden that’s come to the prison.” But Latta said he’s gotten no results, until he spoke with Deputy Don Metts and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s office set up a sting, which led to the arrest of Hansen.”

He would have been the richest man in he joint!
Read another article in my post #9...this has been going on there for many years. It seems it was just this guy’s turn when the arrest went down.
Dilly !! Dilly!!
Reminds me of a pet hamster we had years ago. Every now and then he’d get out of his cage, and go hide in a cage we did not use.
The food in the photo looks like prison food. Maybe it tastes better.
LOL. I do charitable work with the prison system and one thing I can say is that its an absolute crime what the prison food services like Aramark charge for snacks and other prison food.
How sweet, they made sure he got some veggies!
Now that’s food I break into prison for. Or at least the evidence locker.
That’s downright mean...
Who's running this prison? Don Knotts or Colonel Klink?
