I've been searching the web trying to find his reasoning and can't locate it anywhere.
Does anyone know?
Was it just to obstruct?
Im not sure what you are referencing. Any more detail?
Popular bills and resolutions often have a rider that is unacceptable for any reason. Democrats are famous for this. This is one reason why you find a bridge to nowhere or five hundred thousand dollars to study transsexual spiders getting approved. For every good bill or project there are a dozen stinkers hiding someplace in the small print.
There was a resolution to continue military pay during the shutdown. McConnell killed it. I was wondering why.

That’s what I’m thinking but can’t find confirmation.
i admit, i know nothing. Can’t our president continue to pay the troops? and seriously. Mitch Mc Connel needs to die soon. What an a hole.
The best protection they could give military pay is to include Congressional pay under the same conditions
Military doesn’t get paid - Congress doesn’t get paid
Problem probably solved
From what I can gather, this was a simple straight-forward resolution. Turtle wants to restore all funding for the gov’t before he votes on this individual item.
I could be wrong. Won’t be the first time. I was once wrong back in ‘92.
Problem probably solved.
Probably not. Great idea though.
Since it is Congress that appropriates the funds, this will never happen.
"No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time."
Article I, Section 9, Clause 7
I was wondering if Trump had the power to draft the entire US Congress-or at least make them all “federal employees”
Fantasy eh?
Remember during one of the past shut downs when Loretta Sanchez was complaining she wouldn’t be able to afford diapers?
“Turtle wants to restore all funding for the govt before he votes on this individual item.”
The party whip is supposed to control strategy. Democrats have an easy time of it, as they seldom go against what they are told to do. (This is one reason why voting for the man over the party is a mistake.) Getting Republicans on board for a single strategy is like herding cats with an air horn. The only time I can remember when they were all on board was the Obamacare vote. Considering some of the RINO’s that was astonishing.
I wonder if MPC is legally money?
Any budget that is delayed or late should suspend Congressional pay. They need to do their jobs and when they dont they dont get paid, just like most other Americans. CRs to fund government operations are BS.
Read the Pelosi had a big democrat dinner party last night to celebrate
I think they are childishly gloating that Trump was unable to attend his one year celebration at Mar a Lago with big supporters who paid $100K to attend with the Pres
The Democrats are despicable
Really
It was a procedural vote. There’s a Senate rule that says a bill cannot be resubmitted for a vote for a certain period of time after it has been rejected — unless the Senator who sponsored it votes against it. McConnell sponsored the bill, so when it was clear that it couldn’t meet the 60-vote cloture threshold he voted against it just so he could bring it up for another vote at any time.
Logic tells me that you are probably correct.
The cynic in me tells me that he killed it so the dims would have another anchor around their neck.
However all of this is symbolic and hysteria for the present.
Checks are not written on Sunday. I suspect that they are not written until the last day of the month.
So no one, military or not, has gone without his paycheck as of yet.
Same for any invoice written to the government. All invoices have a due date. Some are due upon receipt, but how many do you think are sent to the government of the US with a due upon receipt due date?
It does not hit the fan until the end of the month.
What about in the case of a matter of Nation Security as outlined by Trumps human trafficking Executive Order?
