Interesting article. GPS time even incorporates leap seconds to account for the Earth’s slowing rotation.
Why are there 24 hours in a ‘day’?.................
Good question, give me a second...
I want to know why the ocean hugs the shore.
Not all seconds are the same!
One second of kissing a girl for the first time is not the same as one second of placing your hand on a stove burner on high!
Does this mean a second measured by atomic cycling in radioactive elements will be the same on any planet, in any galaxy, since it is no longer tied to Earth’s rotation?
Would anything impact the atomic measurement?
It is the amount of time it takes for a pendulum that is exactly one meter long to travel from one end to the other.
Some functions of time are based on natural cycles that can be measured here on earth. These would include a year, a season, a lunar month, and a day.
Other functions of time are human constructs. These include calendar months, weeks, hours, minutes and seconds.
What they're describing in this article is an attempt to convert seconds from a human construct to a period based on a natural cycle. This is a similar process that we've seen with metric measures that have been standardized over time.
Actually it’s based on what a New York second is.
All measurements should mimic the decimal system. One hundred seconds in a minute, 100 minutes in an hour, 10 hours in a day. Go to the metric system also. Our current measurement system is nuts!!!
Ask Einstein about the effect of gravity on time. There is no absolute measure of time. Or anything.
A better question: Why did 2008-to-2016 seem like an eternity?
bttt
There are 12 months and 4 weeks per due women's cycles.
This occured once the light bulb went off in modern man's head, that PMS was what was causing all the problems in dealing with the "woman"
PMS was defined as Pre,Post and Present.
There was a "safe" unit of time that seemed to last the length of the other three. This coincided with the Moon phases; hence 4 weeks and 12 months. 12 seemed to be the reason for 12 am's and 12 pm's due to when woman was awake and asleep (peaceful time)
This is about the time that "man cave" was coined.
That is how man came up with the measure of time.

Hmm, gonna be a while counting seconds from now on.
