When I was about 10 we had a super smart standard poodle. Full grown. Someone had given him to us after they found him. We had him for about 6 months with no fenced yard and he was a wanderer and killed one of grandma’s chickens. Oops! he had to go. Gave him to a nice family we knew in a town about 40 miles away in the mountains. About 2 months later I was in the front yard and looked down the road and here came Cocoa. He looked pretty bad but had found his way back to our house. We called the people and they came to get him again and I guess kept a close watch on him for awhile because he never came back.
I know this is off the subject but I thought it interesting enough to print. (and I live with 2 German shepherds) Years ago I rented a small farm where I kept 3 quarter horses, I acquired 3 cats at the same time, two there and one came later. The one that came later would go off into the fields to hunt and I often wondered how he knew how to get back home, he use to go far in his hunts. I watched him one day and he marked his path, every so often I would see him peeing on a area in the field, he did this the whole way across the field and I feel positive that is how he managed to wonder so far and then be able to return to where he started.
We used to have hounds, many times they were running coyotes, and were driven in a truck 20 miles from home while hunting with some friends. If we couldn’t catch them, they would normally be home the next afternoon.
We also had a border collie that we took to my grandfather’s house, put a doghouse for her to help keep coons out of the garden. His house was about 12 miles, when we finished our farm work for the day and got home, she was sitting on the porch.
Luna was born on November 9. My Google Calendar says that is a full 9 weeks plus 1 day. One thing I can definitely vouch for already is that my daughter did a few bonding visits and we can see that has worked really very well.
This breeder recommended not less than 8 weeksI misstated, the breeder said not less than 8 weeks. She was not recommending.
Our little Maltese/Bichon/??? mix is just 6 months. Brought him home on his 8 week birthday. He does great with dogs and people. And cute! Every old lady in the complex wants to be his Mommy!
Just wish he’d learn the wastebasket ISN’T full of his fun toys.
He’s still testing his boundaries. Decided the wall by the front door would be fun to chew on. That’s patched and repainted - nothing serious.
Now he figured out if he jumps up on the dining room chair he can get his noggin right up on the table to see what ‘Daddy’ has been eating.
At least the house training seems to finally have sunk in.
Puppies are fun, but a LOT of work...

Luna woke up, got out of her bed and made a pee on her bathroom pad.
The breeder had been using and training her with the pee pads. :)
So far Luna had only made a small poo in her pet carrier on the way here.
The plan is to buy grass panel (real grass) on Monday (the store said they are getting them) and put that on the balcony and put her pee pad on it. Meanwhile start taking her for walks on days that are not freezing (”walk”, down to pee and poo). We don’t even have a leash yet.
Interesting. I agree that was his method.
LOL dogs would do the same when I would take them to see my son, they knew the scent of his town.
Skin cells. Dogs smell the skin cells that slough off our bodies all day.
My dad lived down the street froma school...dogs would always be in front window waiting for kids to walk by...afternoon entertainment barking at them...
My dog barks at the UPS truck—when it is up in cul-de-sac across the street.
Dogs are interesting and certainly add richness to everyday life :)
Why? What did the landlord do wrong?
The landlord doesn't allow dogs in his rental properties. This is a perfectly reasonable request. Dogs destroy things.
The tenants violated this rule by bringing in their dog. The landlord told them to get rid of the animal and they complied.
If they really wanted to keep their dog, they could've chosen to rent somewhere else where dogs are permitted. The landlord is under no obligation to alter his rental policies.
Too many people in this world think the rules don't apply to them.
And you think the landlord is the one that should be shamed?
