So, the record shows that dogs can/do/have gone many miles to return to their home. BUT, how do they do it?
Get an outside security camera that will digitally record. Motion sensor?
But, 40 miles away and the people traveled inside a car. That can’t be it?
My dog barks at strange cars coming. But, never at my sons car. Obviously he has learned his car sound...but, my son has two cars...still has learned the difference.
But, we are talking about long distance through unfamiliar country. How do they do it?
You’d be amazed at how they can do it. I was unaware until I researched just how amazing a dogs sense of smell is. If that family stopped somewhere to eat, get gas, whatever they left a trail of dead skin cells. We never think how much we stink up a car or a room with what a dog can smell. Forty miles isn’t that far. You can’t believe how much we humans stink. The odors we leave and what we come in contact with. All of it is passed through a dogs olfactory senses and they can zero in on just what they’re searching for.
Could be. I watch LivePD and the K-9s are useful for a limited time after the perp has fled. Last night the officer thought the crime had happened hours before. Then he was told 45 minutes before. Said it was marginal but would try. They did a long rapid chase/track. In the end didn’t find the perp by dog tracking.
But, the point was the time delay between crime/fleeing of perp. So, many of the dog stories refer to months of time between new home and return to old home. Just amazing. Skin or scent doesn’t seem to explain how after a time delay they are able to do it.
ANIMALS ARE FAMILY!!!You dont rent where they arent allowed... PERIOD.
All the animals should be respected for being one of Gods greatest gifts.
