I was seduced and “love Bombed” into a 16 month relationship with an extreme narcissist who is both emotionally and physically abusive. Two years of intense study of cluster B personalities leads me to the conclusion that she is either a malignant narcissist or a dark Triad personality.
There are no words to describe the madness and extreme irrationality of their behavior. Gaslighting is just one of the tools they use to attempt to gain psychological control. I assure you, it’s not funny at all.

I completely understand. I was in the exact same relationship shop. Sadly it is rare to find a female narcissist as we both have s s agreed as to your sentiment. I sympathize. The joy of being free from my abuser and trust me that still is hard for me to say is that she is trapped as a narcissist and forever will be. They are dangerous and destructive.

It sounds like she had “border line personality” disorder. I know that sounds like psycho babble but there are a lot of youtube videos on the subject. Gaslighters try to create a alternative world but are very deliberate and cunning. BPD personalities already have distorted view of themselves and situations.
Dems have been doing this forever to Republicans. The article describes targeting people who are conscientious and agreeable.

@Kid - there’s not a real clear line (differential) btwn BPD & NPD. Some therapists say BPD “feels like this” and NPD “feels like that”. IOW, they’re calling it by gut.
Generally, NPD’s are more charming (at first, before the mask comes off), and are less likely than BPD’s to seek counseling.
This subject is particularly germane to the FR community because (I have found, anyway) there are spot on parallels btwn liberals and narcissists. (more in profile)
