NFL commissioner Roger Goodell defended the leagues declining TV ratings Sunday, pointing out that 20 of the 30 highest-rated shows in 2017 were NFL games.
Nielsen television ratings data backs up Goodells argument. NBCs Sunday Night Football and ESPNs Monday Night Football were the most-watched shows every week in each key male demographic.
However, Nielsens numbers also show that NFL television ratings fell 9.7 percent during the 2017 regular season. In 2016, the ratings fell 8 percent. The average game in 2017 had 1.6 million fewer viewers than in 2016.
We always want ratings to go up, but were 37 of the top 50 shows, which is higher than ever, Goodell told reporters in Jacksonville before the Jaguars wild-card playoff game against the Buffalo Bills.
Were likely to be the No. 1 show on Fox excuse me on all of television, the Fox Sunday afternoon game. Sunday night, prime time is for the seventh year in a row the No. 1 show. Thursday night football is No. 2. I think dominance of the NFL in television is still very clear.
Goodell also said the league has made other efforts to expand its viewing audience. The NFL and Verizon partnered to stream in-market and national games. The league also teamed with Amazon to stream 10 Thursday night games this season.
Conservatives have been repulsed by the Hollywood crowd for decades and yet they're still among the most over-paid people on the planet. It is what is is I suppose.
Hollywood and the NFL can still enjoy fabulous wealth with just the liberals being their fans.
Once you stop watching a whole new world opens up to you.

Yeah, I know a lot of people who prefer watching You Tube videos or streaming websites to network or cable TV.
I just have zero desire to watch Antifa VS BLM.
He could have said it made its longest voyage ever. 8>)
In a short few years, the NFL will be hurting and we can only hope for their end.
Heck, once people realize that they can dump their season tickets, paraphernalia sales will drop with ticket sales.
Down nearly 20% in 2 years. Hard to put a shine on that.
Hey, he’s right, it only dropped 9.7% ... heck it could have been 15 or 20%, but only 9.7. He’s doing a great job.
If he got paid for performance, he would have been fired or at least taken a 9.7% cut and been fired next year if it went down again.
It is supposed to be a game. Not a show.
