The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds.
From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
The plant is a beautiful kind of plant with a very unique bloom cluster. We haven't tried it outdoors yet but the one in the Sonroom is doing well. It needs watered about every 2-3 days.
Thanks for the prayers. Your birds are lucky. We don’t do much that way, and I don’t recall seeing birds in the winter here- maybe that is why. Don’t see squirrels either, but I know they are here.
Glad to hear you are almost well.
Thanks.
I’m thinking about planting some lettuce or spinach in a couple of pots.
I am growing a few turmeric plants for the first time. Mine have not bloomed. I got starts from a garden friend in late fall.
Thanks for prayers. As soon as the ice is gone, I want to check my garlic to see if it survived.
Thanks.
Sounds like a regular winter time story. LOL
Qx just planted a tuber from Natural Grocers. LOL. The leaves/stalks are about 4-5’ tall.
We have a raised bed full of garlic and it has faithfully come up again, year after year. Our temps the last several winters have been warmer than traditional but still have reached at least in the teens if not a little below 0 degrees F.
I have a couple that are that tall too. Most are very short though. I saw pictures of some shown in southern tropical climates and they were gigantic.
We have too, however, I got a very late start in planting them this fall, so they may not be as strong as prior years.
Stay safe and warm, and God Bless.
Spot on. I just heard a couple of days ago that the cold snap we had was a once in over 200-years event that in colonial times was a once in 17-years event. But, because of climate change, was now much more rare.
These scientific prostitutes cannot admit that they were wrong...as long as there is government money to be soaked up.
You must be a night owl too. I seem to have my days and nights mixed up, and strategies to straighten out have not been successful.
Basement door is frozen shut - needs to be unstuck in daylight warmer weather. Hope to wake up in time to address this. Also need to burn some trash while the ground is damp.
And as long as there is a scheme which will lead to the New World Order Global Socialist/dictatorial Government.
How many thousands of years has the desire for world domination and schemes existed? Answer: At least going all the way back to Nimrod and the tower of Babel.
Ever notice that the EU building in Brussels (I think) looks a bit like the Tower of Babel?
I need to find that issue of Time Magazine that has the cover about the Ice Age.
