Shivering, snowbound cities are scrapping their outdoor New Years Eve countdowns. Polar-bear plunges are being canceled because of fears of frostbite and hypothermia. Winter-hardened towns are gaping at their new lows: 32 degrees below zero in Watertown, N.Y. Minus 36 in International Falls, Minn. Record-breaking snowfalls have stranded older and disabled residents inside their homes for days. Cars are buried under mountains of snow, and lethally low temperatures are forcing cities across the Northeast and Midwest to open emergency warming centers for homeless residents and people whose furnaces are no match for the cold.

Any news on the extinct polar bears?
Yes. They say Polar-bear plunges are being cancelled because of fears of frostbite and hypothermia.
Those polar bears are very well organized these days.
Sharks are dying of Frost Bite?.......................
I’m curious: If the Democraps and RINOcraps finally agree that man made gorebull warming is a hoax, will we get a refund from all the extra taxes we had to pay at the pump which BTW also drove up the cost of everything else?
Oh! The Huge Manatee!!
Apparently it worked!..... we're all freezing to death!.................
Hey! What do lawyers have to do with Global Warming?
I grew up in eastern Maine.
These idiots are so full of BS that it’s oozing out their ears.
IF sharks are freezing in saltwater, I’ve got oceanfront property in Wyoming I wanna sell em.
Growing up in that part of the world, there were weeks when we never saw a day above zero degrees (-5 for the high, -20s for the lows or even lower at times).
Snow clear to the window tops and even higher some years.
Ice fished when the lakes up there had almost 3’ of ice and were catching nice, healthy fish. I’m beginning to think “scientists” and “professors” are the new modern-day court jesters just like in the days of old.
Christmas 1983 was far colder than this.
Reagan’s second inaugural in 1985 was far colder than this.
Strange I don’t seem to recall any of these “sky is falling” headlines.
Was up hunting mid December 1977 in Tioga county NY. Had my 66 dodge van. My friend his new Datsun. It was -15F and colder. Not even my friends new Datsun would turn over till the sun hit it in he early afternoon.
Bring the Gorebull warming. Ill take it.
Drinking coffee one fine Sunday morning in January at my In-Law's house, I noticed the huge thermometer they had hanging in an elm tree in their yard.
It was with utter dismay that I said to myself, "Gosh! It only has to warm up 82 degrees...just to be freezing!"
Life becomes cold short and brutal.
“Strange I dont seem to recall any of these sky is falling headlines.”
But remember... the sky is falling, because Trump.
There, there.
Jesters make you laugh. I dont see much laughter. Just sad crybabies on the snowflake-left and our grim determination to defeat them.
LOL. Awesome. The sun is actually going to sleep. Its going to be at its minimum for the next 11 years.
This is great news as I live for snowmobiling so i’ll be enjoying these winters.
WATCH OUT FOR FALLING SHARKS....SHARKNADO!!!!!!
Not quite true. The solar sunspot cycle is 11 years long. And we are heading to a minimum. But the cycle (cycle 25) should peak in about 2024. Normally a more active sun (more sun spots) puts out more radiation which the earth sees as heat. During a minimum the sun spot number drops and we see less heat from the sun.
The last cycle (24) was the weakest in over 100 years. See linked article at bottom of this post. Certain experts predict that cycle 25 will also be weak.
According to http://www.spaceweather.com we have a totally clear sun today. No spots whatsoever.

Excellent point there.
We need coal power!........Make West Virginia the new Saudi Arabia of coal!......................
They postponed the New Years Eve fireworks extravaganza here in Omaha. Normally I disagree with these moves but I think it actually makes sense. According to the National Weather Service the high on Sunday is forecast for -4 and the low forecast is for -18. Brrr. I am hoping this winter doesn’t start to rival the winter of 1983. That was a nasty one.
