Growing up in the South, I met a girl from Minnesota and we decided to live in Minnesota as I was thoroughly fed up with blistering heat and humidity of the South.

Drinking coffee one fine Sunday morning in January at my In-Law's house, I noticed the huge thermometer they had hanging in an elm tree in their yard.

It was with utter dismay that I said to myself, "Gosh! It only has to warm up 82 degrees...just to be freezing!"

I can't imagine what that would feel like - once it reaches single digits (above zero), I'm happy to stay inside.

Been in S. MS since stationed here in '86 and the hot humid Summers can seem as bad as a NY Winter - always a trade-off as to which season you prefer to enjoy - loved Spring-Summer-Fall up North and they combine into an extended Summer down here.
