Other World Computing presents their tear down of Apple's new $5000 iMac Pro. . . and shows what an amazing piece of engineering it truly is. They also hint that it is not the un-upgradeable computer people think it is and that they will be able to upgrade memory, SSDs, and even the Xeon Processors in the future. If so that would be a great boon to professional users who need to upgrade at a much lower cost! — PING!

LOL! That's like my first thought -- "Hey cool, it's got a built-in tape drive... Wait... wut???"

Add a DVD drive, SD card port, a couple usb ports, a MAGSAFE power port and you’d have something.

Oh yeah, stuff Tim Cook deleted from a beautiful, fast, wonderful to use laptop to make it thinner.

Yeah, I’m a p!$$ed macfan.

Looks like Apple may be using flat heat pipes as an integral part of their thermal management system.

The performance of those things are phenomenal!

I had a sample FHP, and one of my favorite demos was to have skeptics stir their warm coffee with it.

Almost instantly, they would drop the heat pipe -- because the accumulated heat -- conducted hyper-eficiently to the end they were holding -- would burn their fingers!

Surely there must be an adapter for one or more of those ports. Definitely if you have a thunderbolt port.

Oh yeah, there are adapters.
But you have a laptop, a portable device, then have to carry a bunch of peripherals to use it.
I love the Mac operating system. They are bombproof, intuitive to use, but, the company has made them more and more unfriendly, IMO.

The only misstep IMO was losing the MagSafe connector, which you can now get from a third party. Well, that and the new touchbar isn’t that great of an idea really...

(Disclaimer: I’ve not used the touchbar beyond a quick session, but it requires you to take your eyes off the screen, which seems like a dealbreaker. I’d like to hear from those who appreciate it.)
