Senator Al Franken resigned from the US Senate on December 7th.
This came after dozens of Democrat senators finally told him to step down for his sexual abuse that was caught on camera.

Al Franken attacked President Donald Trump and Judge Roy Moore on the way out the door.

But he never set a date to leave office. He said it would be “in the coming weeks.”
He’s still in office.

And now Democrats are calling on Franken to keep his job as US Senator.

Politico reported:

At least four senators are urging Al Franken to reconsider resigning, including two who issued statements calling for the resignation two weeks ago and said they now feel remorse over what they feel was a rush to judgment.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), who urged Franken not to step down to begin with — at least not before he went through an Ethics Committee investigation — said the Minnesota senator was railroaded by fellow Democrats.

“What they did to Al was atrocious, the Democrats,” said West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin in an interview for POLITICO’s Off Message podcast to post on Tuesday.

Franken’s unusual timeline — in his departure announcement he said he’d go “in the coming weeks,” without setting a date — has fed the fleeting hopes that there’s still time to reverse course. However, Tina Smith, Minnesota’s Democratic lieutenant governor, was named last week as his appointed successor.

They and GOP used Franken to help get Moore defeated, now that has been accomplished he doesn’t need to promise to go.

In the first place, he didn’t “resign.”

which means the internal pressure to resign was all politically motivated in the first place, and had nothing to do with his sexual assaults or his victims.

it only had to do with his case complicating the planned attacks on roy noore.

Quotes from prominent Democrats:

"I consider Senator Franken a dear friend and greatly respect his accomplishments, but he has a higher obligation to his constituents and the Senate, and he should step down immediately," [Chuck] Schumer said in a statement that went out just before 5 p.m. ET.
New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand wrote: "While Senator Franken is entitled to have the Ethics Committee conclude its review, I believe it would be better for our country if he sent a clear message that any kind of mistreatment of women in our society isn't acceptable by stepping aside to let someone else serve."
“It’s time for him to resign,” Mr. [Dick] Durbin said. “It just seemed that the credible charges continued. I thought it might be an isolated incident or two. It seems to be that there was a pattern of conduct.”
“I’m shocked and appalled by Sen. Franken’s behavior,” [Patty] Murray said. “It’s clear to me that this has been a deeply harmful, persistent problem and a clear pattern over a long period of time. It’s time for him to step aside.”
Kamala Harris twitter: "Sexual harassment and misconduct should not be allowed by anyone and should not occur anywhere. I believe the best thing for Senator Franken to do is step down."
“Al Franken should resign,” [Claire McCaskill] tweeted.
"The right thing is for him to resign. We are now at a crossroads in American culture. And it is an important one. The way we treat women in our country has been abysmal in almost every way. We are finally addressing the issue of sexual harassment, and we need to get it right," [Bernie] Sanders said in a statement.
Any of these Democrats who now support Franken remaining in the Senate should never be believed again, and this should be thrown back at them every time they make a statement or promise regarding future policy or legislation.

They should be called out as dishonest brokers in all future legislative negotiations. Make Democrats eat this every time.

Republican voters are such suckers.

Who did NOT see this sucker-punch coming?

Lying, deceitful Dems just lying their lies and conspiring in their deceit.

Again, who (in either party) did not see this sucker-punch from the humanoid wart (Al Franken) coming?

Many of us here believed that from the start. Let’s see if A. Franken resigns as he promised.

“Senator Al Franken resigned from the US Senate on December 7th.”

No, he did not.

I didn’t need to read any further.

“What they did to Al was atrocious, the Democrats,” said West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin in an interview for POLITICO’s Off Message podcast to post on Tuesday.

This is seriously good stuff. Just who are those atrociously acting Democrats? Why, the female variety Democrats. And who would be denied a shot at being Senator from Minnesota if Franken doesn't step down at the urging of those who call the female variety Democrats atrociously acting? Why it's coincidentally a Democrat of the female variety. Can you say internecine warfare among the RATS? I know I can.

Someone should dig out the video. A now-deceased friend told me Franked and Davis had a live comedy video, I think filmed at Stockton State. One of the “bits” they did was flashing pictures of various female cast members of SNL and them saying stuff like “did her,” except cruder.
