"It appears she was taken to the ground, lost consciousness, and the dogs then mauled her to death,...The area where they found the victim’s body was covered in blood, Agnew said, adding that it took at least eight hours for investigators to collect over 60 pieces of evidence. "It was an absolutely grisly mauling," Sheriff Agnew said. "In my 40 years of law enforcement I've never seen anything quite like it.

Freepers are stupid about any dog you can’t carry under your seat or legs or on your lap in the main cabin

They are scared of guard or fighting or coursing and takedown dogs

These are like really big pit bulls

You’d have to give Freepers a xanax first to pet one

Great video

That cat really scratched the dogo

Going by her heavy involvement in *serious* equestrian competition, a sport that sucks down money like a Florida sinkhole, that family is neither “poor” or even middle class and certainly not white trash.

Look around in her family stuff.

They’re all God and gun loving right wing hunting and fishing types.

I guess tattoos of the Virgin Mary make you ‘hood’, now.

Do wolves kill their prey and then scatter about bits of it?

[no, in case you didn’t know, once it stops moving, it’s dead and they just eat it]

Something like a bear would shake apart a person, quite easily, just because they’re “enraged”.
[you know, just like the ‘nuisance’ bear that has been reported in that very area, for months, now]

I’m surprised to hear people assume LEO are now also dog breed experts.

/not mentioning all the threads where somebody’s Lab or whatnot was summarily shot by cops and we all got outraged

Thanks for all the replies. There were too many for me to list. I think the opinion is that these aren’t Pits, or at least full Pits. There are other dangerous breeds out there that are less well known and just as dangerous while being bigger, but I really think these dogs are hounds, like bear/hog hounds. They are bred to be vicious when hunting but most, MOST, draw the line at attacking people. Most people see hounds as lazy lay on the porch dogs but the big hounds they use to hung hogs are bear are not that way. A lot of them not only hunt but are used as protection dogs, like mine were.

You are right about the weight. True Pits don’t get very big. They are just very strong. These dogs are way too big to be Pits.

Bear or boar hounds that are brindled are Plott Hounds which typically make excellent pets, known for being gentle with kids despite being fearless and doggedly determined in pursuit of their prey.

But, if some deluded ignoramus is crossing them with a breed known for potential aggression toward people they’re going to get a very persistent and fearlessly aggressive dog. Not a good idea, not at all.

Tattoos of the Virgin Mary are not something most Catholics wear.

They are, however, often worn by Hispanic gang members.

And not all horseback riders in Virginia come from wealthy families.

Goochland County has become more developed in recent years, but there are still plenty of rural areas.

LOL, this one won't be going under my arm, or my seat, but I know what you mean.

I'm not afraid of the guard type dogs, except for a Shepard, but I prefer not to have Pits, Rotties, etc. anymore because the stronger dogs are harder for me to handle now. Most dogs love me. I have no problem with responsible people that can handle them having any dog they want. We all know that doesn't often happen though.

Because of my size (120 pounds) and age (63), the smaller dogs are in my future but I still love hunting types. I currently have a 120lb Bloodhound and two part Black Mouth Curs outside. When they are gone I'll just have the smaller dogs, not because I'm afraid of the big dogs but because they are safer for me to handle. Being a Southern girl I will always love hounds but I will have Feists from now on. :-)

Exactly! I believe the Plott is one of the foundation breeds of the Catahoula Leopard hound.

The two I had that were crossed with Rottweiler could have been deadly in the wrong hands. They were bred for hunting hogs and bear but we used them as protection dogs. The thing we did differently though was to train them thoroughly and we never taught them to attack a person. We didn’t have to teach them to protect. That was natural ability. We trained them to NOT attack, but to protect. One of them lived to be 16 and neither one ever bit or hurt anybody. The breeder said the mix of Catahoula hound and Rottweiler made the best hog and bear hounds he had ever seen while not being crazy aggressive toward people.

I’m a dog lover from way back, there’s never been a day in my life when I didn’t have at least one, and I’ve defended even pitbulls against all the wild-eyed fearmongering that unfortunately goes on, even here. But, if ignorant and/or unscrupulous breeders want to create a monster dog they can. Unstable, aggressive dogs were removed from the gene pool, one way or the other, to create and maintain the known breeds of today. No one wanted unstable, unpredictably aggressive dogs and with good reason. Meth heads and hood rats are going to wreck that, hundreds and even thousands of years of effort.

Yes! The backyard Pit breeders have been breeding for just that...a bigger, meaner, more aggressive dog. A good breeder would breed those traits out, not in.

....not pit bulls, looks like a mix breed.....

Yes, it is totally unfair to blame the dogs
it was actually her Pet Cobras

Equestrian riding is not an inexpensive hobby, I will grant you that.

There are rural areas in Virginia where horseback riding is a common pastime. There are several people I know that ride (not competitively) who would not normally be considered wealthy. It helps if you have inherited farm land, which many in Central Virginia still do.

I would not be so quick to dismiss the influence of gangs in the area, either. The rural parts of Virginia along the Blue Ridge most definitely have Hispanic gang problems. So does the metro Richmond area, of which Goochland County is part.

And it is not common in these parts to see a young white woman—particularly if she is from a wealthy family—wearing a tattoo like that.

Take a look at the NY Post article on this story. I have posted a link below.

Authorities believe that the dogs were bred for fighting. Also, her friends say she was receiving death threats. It might be interesting to know what the victim did for a living.

Oddly enough, the very first person to post on her FB timeline, *before* anyone else seemed aware of her death and before someone had posted the link to her death, to answer her followers’ confusion, was a guy named Lopez.

He laughed and asked how it felt to be “killed by something lower than yourself”.

Now, given her obvious right wing/Confederate flag waving, gun shooting tendencies, and that it’s coming out that she’d not been on FB for several months due to “death threats”, there may be a Hispanic angle...just not the one you think.

The ‘gloating over her death’ comments made by Lopez have been removed.
By whom, I do not know.

“Authorities” *always* say that so I dismiss it out of hand.

It was a stupid assed thing to even conjecture.

More sensationalist crapaganda from know nothing LEOs.

“For a living”, she seemed to be a spoiled princess, living at home.

Lovely how all of sudden, every possible idiotic conjecture is being dragged out, to blame her for her own death.

The masses protest too much, methinks.
