Looks to be a great film.
Riding?
In the trailer, I saw him walking in the tunnel...
Which is where the bomb shelters were...
Man, that is stupid. Trump and Churchill have a lot of parallels. They were both flawed characters who, when the country needed them, their country didn't care about their flaws. They just wanted the country to survive.
Hated Islam, too.
As a pre-lude it would pay well to watch Tom Hiddleston’s:
...”The Gathering Storm”.....Excellent!

He was also excellent IMHO in The Professional, one of my fave films.
Immortal Beloved is one of my favorite movies of all time. Oldman is riveting. He never received the acclaim he deserves for that film.
Another one I haven’t seen.
Since I have been “boycotting” Hollyweird for a while, i have a lot of catching up to do.
Nobody does a roll like Gary Oldman.....but I have to say I didn’t see that movie....guess what I’ll be watching in the next couple days! That’s quite a scene! Acting..perfection!
I read he lost so much weight for that particular role that he ended up in the hospital.
That’s DEDICATION to his craft, I must say.
He played that role excellent as he always does any role he takes on. It is said he speaks so many languages fluently that it’s hard to tell he’s British.
What character did he play in True Romance?
Both of those articles appear to prefer a hazy hagiography over the humanity revealed in WSC’s own history of the war years and the RSC-Martin Gilbert bio.
The man was, after all, a man. He had no more clear certainty of the progress of the coming conflict than he had of its outcome, expressed confidence notwithstanding. He began the war years, even the war itself under the impression that Italy would be an ally and the USSR an antagonist, and was wrong on both counts.
He was brusque, even rude, to his staff, both professional and personal. He demanded, and mostly got, complete loyalty. And he did, by his own account, plead with FDR for the use of some obsolete US destroyers for use on convoy, which were eventually forthcoming.
I admire the man and, where justifiable, uphold the legend. I cannot ignore or downplay his humanity.
Yes. I didn’t even know he was British till tonight. I just knew he was an amazing actor.
Wow...”Hagiography” is tomorrow’s “Word for the Day” on FR.
Excellent use of the word, BTW. :-)
I really enjoyed that movie. Great actor.
Agreed. I have read all of them as well. History from the Horse’s Mouth!
