Does it fix the Root vulnerability Completely?
To: ImJustAnotherOkie
I am sure it does. That is a trivial fix for a very serious problem.

Well, the first attempt failed to completely squash it. Not so trivial.

F’n great!!!!! Every time they force an update, they wipe out all of the settings for my ultrawide monitor. I’m just about done with Mac.
To: SirFishalot
Somehow, my monitor has never had an issue.
But if you want to go backwards to Windows 10, I am certain that can be accommodated. IMHO this is a lot more painful than resetting monitor prefs.

The other two versions played havoc with my SSDs have they fixed that problem. I spent last weekend downgrading to Sierra no small task either. I had to use SoftRaid Pro to reformat my SSDs, High Sierra wasn't worth the trouble. Have a couple older programs that didn't really like it either and I need those.

Terrible! You have to set your ultra wide monitor back up again? That must take like 4 whole seconds or so.

Fn great!!!!! Every time they force an update, they wipe out all of the settings for my ultrawide monitor. Im just about done with Mac. We use iPads as time clocks and to track fuel usage on our company gas pumps. Every damn time an update comes along they go offline. Tried everything in the book to stop it but to no avail. Bout ready to dump them!

Well, the first attempt failed to completely squash it. Not so trivial. The first attempt squashed it. It's just that people who then re-installed macOS 10.13.1 had to reinstall the patch because the fix had not been retroactively installed in the update. You are just throwing feces as you usually do in Apple threads. You don't use Apple products, so what do you care?

Simple solution is that before you accept the OS System Update and install it, find the Apple plist for your monitors in your System Library and copy it, noting where it is located in your System Library. After updating, put it back. Problem solved.

Yes.
Two updates in 10 days... As long as you're complaining, don't forget one intervening security update pushed out between the full updates.

I am a fanboy but not everything Apple does helps me. :) Were they Apple SSDs or third party? We had no problem updating those computers we elected to upgrade. Some we had to keep at Sierra due to incompatibilities with our 3D Panalipse software. . . which is mission critical. Others were Fusion drives that updated but were left untouched by the update software due to Apple not having a safe means to upgrade Fusion drives yet.
I recommend calling 1-800-MY-APPLE. . . at every update users get free support for upgrade problems.

I don’t have Sir Fishalot’s problems but thank you for providing a helpful step he can take. It saves so much time to be able to get our questions answered by you here.

Terrible! You have to set your ultra wide monitor back up again? That must take like 4 whole seconds or so. If only it was that easy. I have an Airbook and a LG 29" UW monitor. Worked fine until the Sierra upgrade, then wouldn't scale. Took both to the Mac store, they tried a bunch of things and nothing. I ended up buying SwitchResX and found a script I had to run to make it all work. Then this last upgrade to High Sierra put me right back, and the script I used no longer works. So do you know the secret? I'm all ears.......
