Stanford University researcher used a computer algorithm to determined whether a neighborhood leaned to the left or right by looking at vehicles in 50 millions of images from Google Street View in 200 American cities.
When sedans outnumbered pickup trucks, there was an 88 percent chance the city would vote Democratic.
In areas with more pickup trucks, the odds switched to 82 percent in favor of Republicans, the researchers concluded.

I drive an F150 and a Volvo XC70. This will confuse them mightily!
I’m all conservative all the time, especially when driving the Volvo — it’s a fast car and damned useful and cops don’t go looking for it. The truck, well, I love the modern Model T — best damned car ever made.
Maybe....: )
Currently I have a Honda, a VW...and a Ford.
Oh brother, wonder what this so-called research cost me.....
I drive an old beat-up sedan because it runs great and is currently only costing me gas and routine maintenance to keep on the road. I’d love to have a truck, but they are priced beyond my means.
I drive a 2015 Red Dodge Challenger with “TRUMP 45” Vanity License Plates. Wonder who I Voted for? Hmmmm...
Unfortunately I live in CA and even the area I live in (Orange County) went for the Democrat for the first time ever.
1995 Astro work van. It’s very crappy.
Polaris HO 500
with various Ford and Ram pickups scattered in the mix....
Not always
Carefully
Which one? The F350? The Lincoln? The GMC Astro van? The Honda Helix?
I’m on my second Prius. When you have more than one the plural is Prii. ;-)
Further, I bought my first on Earth Day. And though it was completely coincidental, it’s still a great factoid to rub in the face of my liberal friends and point out how they are failing to do their part.
On the other hand, during most of Obama’s presidency, my second vehicle was a F350. You learn interesting things about people when switching between these vehicles. People treat you differently based on what you drive.
Anyway, for the record, I quit being a Republican a long time ago. I’m a conservative. Never been a Democrat.
I generally vote reluctantly for the Republican candidate. However, I have been an enthusiastic supporter of Ted Cruz (in whose district I live) and Donald Trump. (Less so of Cruz after his endorsement withdrawal from Roy Moore, but he is still one of the more reliable conservative voices and votes.)
If I could afford to, I’d drive a Tesla. But I’d be sure we had at least one good truck in the family, too.
“Prius’s” “Priuses”?
You obviously do not move in liberal circles. The plural of Prius is Prii (pronounced pree-eye).
Yes, I’m so confidant in my conservative arguments and in my masculinity, that I can totally pull off driving a Prius.
But I defy *anyone* to call me a liberal.
(oh, ok, if you insist: Nissan Sentra with manual transmission).
Two Mercedes and one Lexus among my siblings. For years my wife and I drove Volvos. Now I drive a vw. We’re all solid right wing conservatives.
2016 Range Rover Sport supercharged....510HP go any where goodness.
2016 Polaris Slingshot SL LE.... TASTEFULLY customized.
2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider... OH MAN!!
Usually vote Vlad the Impaler / Ghengis Khan party line.
Hey, I have my eye on a Lesbomobile myself. Just need to squeeze another 90,000 miles from my passat wagon.
My boss has two.
"...Cervelo R2..."
This was Reagan’s doing. It was my introduction to republican betrayal.
