An Indian medical student has been crowned Miss World following a glamorous event in China today, making her country the joint-most successful nation in the pageant's history along with Venezuela.
Manushi Chhillar became India's sixth winner of the prestigious beauty show, following in the footsteps of successful Bollywood actresses Priyanka Chopra and Aishwarya Rai.
Chhillar's win means that India and Venezuela have both won the competition a record six times each over the course of its 67 year history.
The 20-year-old beauty winner is a trained Indian classical dancer who enjoys painting. The Miss World website also says that she hopes to open a chain of non-profit hospitals in rural areas.

She was here on a dependent visa so she couldn't work, so she was really bored. One day her husband came home while we were talking (her talking, and talking, me listening...), so I met him Cool guy, working in the tech field.
After that, she stopped knocking on my door. He probably told her to stay away from me, even though he didn't have anything to worry about. He was better looking than me, made more money than me, and he was already married to her!
Nothing was going on, other than her talking my ears off. It was kind of a relief when she stopped. But she was cute.
Probably from northern India and a Punjabi or with Punjabi roots. I’m from there and often get mistaken for Italian or South American. My wife is also from there and a beautiful blonde.

Britain vastly improved India’s culture:
1) Destroyed the Muslim Mughal empire. It is a plus to destroy a Muslim empire.
2) Severely weakened the Hindu culture which led to bizarre inhumane acts like sati and the murders committed by the Thuggee. It would be best for India if Hinduism were to disappear and be replaced with Christianity.
3) Britain gave a system of law and government which was entirely unknown in the history of India but which has proved to be incredibly successful in promoting individual rights, safeguarding freedom, driving the economy and modern science.
4) There was NO modern medicine or any cures for serious disease in India before the British arrived. Britain changed that.
5) The only reason why India’s GDP was so high in 1700 was because it had many of the exotic goods foreigners wanted and were willing to pay extravagantly for. One hundred and fifty years later with colonialism in full swing in Africa, and Asia, India was no longer the only source for some of those exotic goods and the industrial revolution was happening in those countries where there were engineers, education, roads, canals, and railways - which meant largely not in India.
Be careful of making too many assumptions based on bookend numbers provided by Angus Maddison.

There was no modern medicine in Britain when they invaded India in the 1600s.
