In a single evening, and at the hand of a single man, shootings at Mandalay Bay in Los Vegas added more than 500 to the pool of Americans who have to be treated for gun injuries.
The cost of these wounds cannot be calcuated. Beyond the financial expense, the societal and emotional expenses are difficult to imagine.
But researchers have quantified one corner of the problem: hospital expenses. Gunshot wounds cost Americans $2.8 billion in hospital bills alone per year, according to a new analysis published in the journal Health Affairs, released coincidentally a day after the Las Vegas attack. That amount is more than 18 times last year’s National Endowment for the Arts.

Perhaps, but this also includes people deservedly shot.
Remember, nearly every incident of gun violence is brought to an end by the use of another gun.
This is the new lie progressives are using-—However, it’s full of misleading information. #1, Suicides, gang violence and legal defense make up 90% of the so called 2.8 Billion-—but these items would happen regardless guns or not...it’s a lame argument.
How much does alcohol cost us?

This is a straw man argument.
The only way to lower these costs through gun control is to reduce the number of guns in circulation by 99% or more.
The cost of such a confiscation scheme would exceed the hospital costs by several orders of magnitude.
On the other hand, the hospital costs could be reduced enormously through strict enforcement of prohibited possessor law and by long sentences for violent offenders.
That cost is roughly close to the benefits realized.
But what is the cost OUTSIDE of Chicago?........................
I would bet smoking related health problems dwarf this by several orders of magnitude...................

by my calculation, my guns have cost me nothing in hospital bills.....only in ammo...

I would like to see the cost breakdown of how much money was caused by illegal aliens shooting people.

We need to save money and only treat the decent people who are shot, not the predators who constitute the majority of those injured. Is that what they are implying? If you shoot a burglar, just save the state’s money - shovel and shut up?

No. Guns are a tool. People use tools. People cause things. Guns don’t cause things. They are an instrument.
How much do automobile “accidents” cost us? Hmmmmmm?
...sigh...then do background checks on the victims....if they show up as a criminal, give them Obamacare on the spot.
