Big deal, so New Jersey and Virginia elected Democrats tonight. Off year elections are not bellwether result. It is next year when we got Trump supporting candidates running. Not a setback...both were going for the Dems...
GOPe candidates who don’t support PRESIDENT TRUMP are destined to lose.
I think it’s a great result. Dems have a couple of insignificant wins that will be blown so largely out of proportion that they spend 9 months celebrating and set themselves up for blindsiding losses next year.
Especially in VA which is the headwaters of The Swamp. Gilispie was punished by losing by a bigger margin than Trump did because he is no Trump.
Notice, also, the RINOs retiring. They know the game has changed.
In 2018 we will have a significant money advantage and an ideological advantage. Some democrats will probably be trying to stay out of jail, and the democrat brand image will be trash.
Im troubled because it was an off year election. Our voters usually turn out for those...
The 2016 race showed me that tonight 2 “R” Republocrats lost governor races to 2 “D” Republocrats; not good signs for us in either state, but I don’t know what difference it makes. Republocrats from both sides are simply nullifying the 2016 election by obstructing Trump’s agenda; “D” Republocrats will keep winning because none of them will deliver relief from the taxes, ObamaCare, and illegal invasion that motivated voters last year.
How can that be? There were no #NeverTRUMPers & Gary Johnson!
Pollster that had Ed Gillespie winning especially the one by 8 points should have their balls SMASHED! LOL
“...but potentially losing control of one chamber when it didn’t even seem to be in play is a bad night.”
Agreed. Going into Election Day, the GOP held a 64-36 edge in the Virginia House of Delegates. Virginia has changed, I think everyone agrees on that. But to potentially lose a chamber (when we held a margin like that) shows something else.
The Dem base was really motivated and they did a really good job of ID’ing their people and getting them out to vote. They also raised a a lot of money.
I wonder if our organizational skills and messaging were off? It would appear that a lot of the legislators who lost were not necessarily the squishy GOPe type either.
I’m depressed.
state district races ...in a state that Clinton won, no biggie.
Great job NJ, we are now full ‘tard sanctuary state and our property taxes are going up.
I’m not...by this time next year, we will have real Republicans running....To me, it isn’t a setback, but a cleaning of RINOs. 2018 is what I’m looking at...
Quick question interrupting this thread.
When is Roy Moore’s Alabama race being voted on? Next November?
Which is just fine with the uniparty types running state and county parties. If voters want to drain the swamp, they will need to go around/over/through state and county GOP apparatchiks to get their own candidates on the ballot.
I believe in December, but an Alabama FReeper would know better...
What my takeaway is is that there are two new parties breaking out of the dead husks of the old ones, and the Resistance Party has shown surprising strength and the ability to turn out their people.
From this, I derive the theorem that, in 2018, #theResistance will beat the GOPe on all blue and purple ground, and on some red ground. The strength of the Resistance against GOPe on red ground is untested.
We need as many Resistance - Trump head to head matchups as possible. Time grows short to stand up enough Trumpites to retain control of Congress.
“We will have real Republicans running”
You’d better hope you do not. What you saw last night WERE the REALLY REAL Republicans. Ed Gillespie, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush are what Republicans ARE.
For God’s sake. Destroy this stupid party and replace it with American patriots who want the best for OUR people’s children before it’s too late.
The Democrats have evolved, as losing works its magic. Hillary is going down. Communists with lots of money and smart messaging have taken over. They are ready for 2018 and 2020.
If in 435 House races and 34 Senate races we run Ed Gillespies we are going to get crushed. You cannot beat something with nothing.
And more of our productive citizens will be moving out.
