White House attacks legacies of both Bush presidents after reports that they refused to vote [Trump]

The White House on Saturday disparaged the legacies of the only two living Republican presidents to precede Donald Trump, after reports that both men castigated Trump in interviews last year and refused to vote for him.

Former president George H.W. Bush mocked then-candidate Trump as a “blowhard” and voted for a Democratic president, while the younger Bush worried aloud that Trump would destroy the idea of a Republican president in all but name, according to “The Last Republicans,” which is scheduled to go on sale later this month.

The White House responded after quotes from the book were published on Saturday, entering an extraordinary war of words involving three presidents from the same party.

“If one Presidential candidate can disassemble a political party, it speaks volumes about how strong a legacy its past two presidents really had,” the White House wrote to CNN. It called the younger Bush's decision to wage war on Iraq “one of the greatest foreign policy mistakes in American history.”

Trump is the first Republican we’ve had as President since Reagan.

Mark17, it’s evidently not a usual suspect.

The man has an Irish surname.

Preliminary reports seem to be pointing to a disgruntled member/former member of the church.

At last 28 people were killed. Some were young children. I believe two officers also died. I’m not sure of the critical injured numbers at this point.

This was a terrible act of hatred.

Exactly right.

Of all the candidates in the primary, Jeb was the only one I would positively NOT have voted for if he won the nomination. (So like Trump, I would have had to raise my hand and say “No, I do not promise to vote for the eventual nominee.) I GREATLY respected Trump for the honesty and courage to raise his hand (and he was not my first choice at that time).

"What the eff do they know about men and women who go to work all day and still struggle to keep their families above water."

Right you are, I know many friends that have lost full time jobs and are now supporting their families with multiple part time jobs. The unemployment statistic being low is because everyone is working two and three part time jobs, thank you President Bush (both).

YES! They used the military cause as a shied to distract from their evil borderless world agenda. What a GROSS CREW.

Here's a graph from the first federal budget proposal that George W. Bush submitted to Congress:

He pledged to take the then-$5.7 trillion debt and reduce it to $3.7 trillion over the next decade while pouring trillions into a reserve fund for Social Security.

Instead, he had doubled the debt by the time he left office, and Social Security was on a path toward INSECURITY. That little episode really summarizes the Bush "legacy" - broken promises on a pile of squandered opportunities which left America in worse shape.

Once again, President Trump has used his superpower of causing those in the public eye to reveal things about themselves that they had previously worked very hard to conceal.

Of course part of it is their fear of him exposing the whole dirty scam that is Washington DC, and how we’ve all been defrauded for decades.

God Bless and keep safe this amazing man. We almost don’t even deserve him.

I voted for them too, and am now sad that I did. I think you are being kind in your assessment. Light has been shined on them and the swamp.

The GOP head honchos also wanted the addition of GHW Bush to shore up moderate support in the Northeast and Midwest.

We’re all attacking the bushes. I don’t blame the president.
President Trump actually knows what we think. He listens to us, unlike the past presents who looked out for themselves and not the citizens. However, we all know there is a ‘higher up’ who run everything.
