Humans love dogs more than other people: study

Humans love dogs more than their fellow man.

Two major studies showed that mankind has more empathy for pooches in dire circumstances than suffering people, according to a report in the Times of London.

A UK medical research charity staged two phony donation campaigns – one with a dog and the other featuring a man. Of course, the pooch drew more contributions.

“Would you give pounds 5 to save Harrison from a slow, painful death?” the separate ads said, featuring a canine and human “Harrison.”

Then a Northeastern University study showed that only a baby human could compete with man’s best friend.

Students were showed fake newspaper clippings about a baseball-bat attack on a puppy, an adult dog, a year-old infant and 30-year-old adult. They were asked questions to gauge their empathy and the adult finished last in sympathy.

“Respondents were significantly less distressed when adult humans were victimized, in comparison with human babies, puppies and adult dogs,” according to Northeastern researchers. “Only relative to the infant victim did the adult dog receive lower scores of empathy.”

Our lack or morality has taught society in general that there’s no reason to be a “better” person. No need to change our bad habits, become compassionate, cooperate, etc. etc. That’s why so many people form relationships with dogs instead of people. “Fur babies” don’t expect us to change our bad habits around them. We can be the biggest buttheads in the world and dogs don’t really care. They have no choice but to be around us.

Christ urged us to love our neighbor. And this is hard, because everyone has a sinful nature, and we know that most of our neighbors are not all that likable. Yes, we are supposed to try. But it’s not always easy. No one ever said it would be.

Dogs and Cats are not nearly as problematic.

>>Dogs love completely unconditional.<<

Stop feeding them and see how long that lasts.

"I think this nay be because, even though we live in a post modern world where so many deny Judeo-Christian values and standards of right and wrong, most people still know deep down that there really is a standard of right and wrong. Dogs and cats, babies and small children are innocent. Thus more likable. The rest of us are not."

There are dogs that have laid down beside their dead master refusing to leave and starved to death, so there’s more going on than merely a food source. If you’d ever experienced that bond between yourself and a good dog, you’d know this. Yes, most are very food-motivated just as people are. I strongly suspect my dog would still be by my side if I ran out of food whereas just about all my friends and family, excluding my mother and two best friends, would be long gone.

What a stupid study.

I wonder how many taxpayer dollars were wasted here.

Pets are just one hell of a lot more lovable than humans.

Everyone knows that.

It's a recent aberration

It's not all that recent.

If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man. Mark Twain

It’s good they did this study but just ask any dog lover or animal lover in general and they could have given you the same info.

On average most dogs are simply better beings than most people on average. It’s just the way it is.
