EXCLUSIVE: Filming on the upcoming sixth and final season of Netflixs Washington D.C.-set drama House of Cards has been suspended indefinitely. Cast and crew of the MRC-produced series were told of the shutdown this morning.
MRC and Netflix have decided to suspend production on House of Cards season six, until further notice, to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew, the two companies said in a joint statement to Deadline.
The news comes less than 24 hours after Netflix announced that House of Cards will end with its upcoming sixth season as allegations of unwanted sexual advances in 1986 by HoC star Kevin Spacey against then-14-year-old Anthony Rapp had emerged.
The Emmy-nominated House of Cards had been in production in Baltimore on its sixth season. Executives from Netflix and MRC arrived in the city Monday to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported following the allegations against Spacey, who had not been scheduled to be on set yesterday.
Media Rights Capital and Netflix are deeply troubled by last nights news concerning Kevin Spacey, the companies said in a joint statement Monday.
Season 6 of House of Cards had been expected to consist of 13 episodes and debut in mid-2018 on Netflix. It is unclear yet how the stop of production would impact that.
Less than two weeks ago, HoC had to deal with a mass shooting that took place a mile from its Baltimore set. It ended up not affecting production.
In what has been a career-defining and critically praised role, Spacey plays the manipulative and murderous now ex-President Francis Underwood in the Netflix series. Season 5 of the show ended with Robin Wrights Claire Underwood now in the Oval Office as Americas first female POTUS as Spaceys Underwood resigned in disgrace.
Having helped launch Netflixs original programming explosion in 2013, the David Fincher-produced House of Cards was created by Beau Willimon based on the 1990 BBC series from Michael Dobbs novel. With the series coming to an end, Netflix and MRC had been exploring potential spinoffs.
(Not that I give a S't)
duh... write him out of the script
Is he the only character on the show?
I don’t watch it, but the show does have a strong cast. They could definitely write him off.
As I was flipping channels last night an ad for Netflix ran it was showing a scene from House of cards. I guess their advertising division hadn’t gotten the memo yet.
I’m SHOCKED that liberals have actually found a perversion or evil too far for them. I figured animals and children were the next frontier for them, especially since they’ve milked the trannie cow for all she can give. They need a new perversion to push for.
Maybe this is just too soon after winning the homo, trannie and snowflake battles. They are going to take a little time before taking on this war.
I’ve never seen it.
Yea, what a great storyline to open the next episode of his car running down a LA street and kaboom. Michael Hastings.

This season was to be all about the first woman President, based on the assumption Hillary was elected.
His character should get arrested for pedophilia.
Then have him commit suicide in jail.
They could use outtakes and stand ends.
Although, i have never seen the show...and have no idea what it is about..and now i do not have to watch it ever.
“Is he the only character on the show?”
—
The show revolved around him.
.
They don’t mind what he did. They just don’t like that he admitted it to the general public.
As insurance in case something happens to any of the cast of any given TV series they will write a script for each character to meet their untimely demise. They take that scene and tuck it away just in case something like this or maybe a car and plane accident happens and they lose a key character.
If this series didn’t do that; someone wasn’t doing their job.
I should add that Spacey is the key character in this show so without him; it all ends. He IS the show.
One of the first high quality streaming series. Spacey does a great job and the rest of the last as well. Robin Penn Wright amazing as first lady.
Interesting. I wondered that with the Grandfather on Blue Bloods and other older characters, even though in real life, he’s only a few years older than Selleck.
Spacey didn't get on the liberal sh!t-list for hitting on a teenage boy. He got on their sh!t-list because he tried to hide behind his perversion by coming out as a gay man. Homosexuals are rightly pissed off about this ... like, he's going to stay in the closet for his entire adult life, but then come out of it only after someone publicly accuses him of trying to molest a teenager?
They should write him out of the show by having a peripheral character announce that Frank Underwood was caught molesting a little boy by the boy’s former Green Beret father, and died from one enraged punch to the head.
I watched the first few seasons and lost interest but, in hindsight, it’s interesting that his presidential character was a manipulative closeted gay who sexually exploited people on his way to the top
