After the dreary Dark World, Marvels hairiest hero makes a thunderous comeback in the bright and very breezy Thor: Ragnarok.
ndie director Taika Waititi may have seemed an odd choice for the Asgardians third solo movie and the 17th instalment in Marvels Cinematic Universe but it turns out the man behind Kiwi comedy Hunt For The Wilderpeople (my favourite film of 2016), is the comic book giants most inspired signing.
If youre making a film about a flaxen-haired, hammer-wielding god from outer space theres no point keeping a straight face.
And Waititis love of the ridiculous makes this the funniest Marvel movie yet.

Mark Ruffalo is the reason I won’t grace this movie....
....he has said the most vile ugly things about President Trump
He won’t keep his anti American thoughts to himself!
Knowing Marvel, Thor will be black and gay.
Public libraries have movies on DVD.
How on Earth do they explain a Negro Valkyrie?
Ditto. My hard earned money isn’t going near his America hating pockets.

The same way they explain a black Heimdall; these characters aren't actually Norse gods as such, but rather long-lived aliens who interacted with the Norse people of ancient times.
The same way they explain a black gatekeeper (or whatever that dude was in the “Thor” films).
Every marvel movie is “the best since Marvel Movie X” and they have all been lame to awful since the first Guardians of the Galaxy. (and they weren’t great to begin with)
I liked them just because I liked the comics when I was a kid, after the initial trill of seeing them on the big screen the movies are generally bland. Maybe this one is better but I doubt it.
“The same way they explain a black gatekeeper (or whatever that dude was in the Thor films).”
I liked that gatekeeper.
Their audience primarily is a pimply faced high school male who is barely aware of anything outside of comic books, video games, & his cell phone. All wishing they had muscles like Thor but are too lazy to work at getting them. The previous movies presented Heimdall as black. (Irdis Alba played him!) This was I think deliberate because according to Norse mythology Heimdall is described as “the whitest of the gods”.
So they now have a black Valkyrie?
What a bunch of sourpusses on this thread. Everything doesn’t have to be political, people! That’s how Libtards act. I,too, am looking forward to having fun watching this movie.

Cultural appropriation?
My family also. We already have our tickets!
I agree. Viggo Mortensen is a far left radical, but I’m not going to forgo watching “The Lord of the Rings” because of that.
Hollywood always makes it political. Its one of the ways they change the culture to further their agenda.
The comic book movies and the action movies have the same problem — that are about a hour too long. Some of them run nearly 2-1/2 hours.
I usually watch them via premium channel on-demand or Netflix/Amazon Prime/TiVo. That way, I can pause when needed.
I find myself less interested in what is going on on the screen, as I think to myself, “they could have cut this part ... and that ... and that scene just goes on and on and on for no reason.” And end up with an hour-and-a-half movie.
Thor was funny when he was changed into a frog. issue 364 - 366

This is actually already the fifth movie with this character appearing in the current movie canon (starting in 2011) and Thor is played by Chris Hemsworth. The love interest of the character, Jane Foster, is played by Natalie Portman.
