I’ve got a question about crockpot. I have a Hamilton Beach 10 quart I think it is. Do you know of another brand that is larger in diameter and not so deep? The cleaning crew has a hell of a time with mine. It’s just the right height that they choke and gag while putting it through the prewash cycle.

Nomnompaleo has a bunch of yummy looking recipes for the instant pot.

Lots of tutorials on youtube.

I love my crockpots in heatwaves.

I cook ribs in one, greens in another, rice in a small one and I microwave sweet potatoes for a complete hot meal without heating up the kitchen too bad.

Also, meat for super burritos in one, beans in another and rice in the other. Homemade salsa, salad, sour cream and grated cheese and tortillas. That’s good for several days of heat and eat stuff.

Crockpot chicken and gravy

1-2# skinless, boneless chicken breast (chicken tenders are good)
2 packets chicken gravy mix (McCormick)
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 cups water
Garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt
1/2 cup sour cream (or more to taste)

Sprinkle garlic and onion powders, pepper and a little salt over both sides of chicken breasts. Mix remaining ingredients in the crock pot with whisk til smooth. Place chicken in the crockpot, covering with sauce. Cook on low 8 hrs or high 4 hrs. When done, remove chicken, stir in sour cream and hear through. Break up chicken into large pieces and return to sauce in crockpot. Adjust seasoning. Serve over mashed potatoes or rice.

This is a quick and easy recipe and very tasty.

Cuban Pork Sandwiches.

Throw a pork tenderloin in a crock pot set on low with a 1/2 bottle of Mojo Criollo in the a.m. Come home at the end of the day and shred it.

Throw some of it on roll with Black Forest ham and Swiss cheese. Wrap in foil and bake a bit til melted. (Or more logically put the good stuff in the microwave to melt it and add the roll later.) Top it with sliced Klausen pickles and yellow mustard. Heaven.

Also do Crockpot Pizza.

Throw in cooked sausage, fresh vegies, onions, different peppers, garlic, a bunch of fresh, diced, tomatoes, black olives, mushrooms, pepperoni. Later moz and parm last hour on high.

If I do it as a pasta dish I throw in some V-8 to make it a bit soupy.

I’m a crock pot addict.

I've used slow cookers for years (a real help when I was working) and have been using an Instant Pot Duo for 10 months. I can't speak to egg cooking since I use the amazing Cuisinart egg cooker for that stuff. But.....

The Instant Pot is incredible. When doing standard stuff like stews, soups, pot roasts, etc., the Saute feature means that you can brown the meat and soften your veggies in one pot. The manual pressure setting does what pressure cooking does: tender, juicy meats of all kinds.

It's also a slow cooker AND the adjustable temp means that your old 'Crock-Pot' recipes will turn out perfectly since modern slow cookers just eventually boil everything.

Bone broth takes an hour at pressure and maybe an hour and a half all told. It will turn into jelly once it cools. Tomato sauce is an hour. Yogurt is stupidly easy - way easier than my old yogurt maker. Risotto needs no baby-sitting. You can make polenta or cornmeal mush with the porridge setting (or make steel cut oatmeal if you like that sort thing).Tamales, anybody? Cheesecake? Want to make your own pumpkin pie filling? A pie pumpkin fits inside and so much easier.

Can you tell that I'm a fan?

Beef Roast

Chop up veggies: Potatoes, celery, onions, carrots - amount varies with size of pot and dietary choice - easy on potatoes for lower carbs.

Put roast on top and add a package of Lipton onion mushroom soup mix. Add 1/4 - 1/2 cup water.

Cook on high or low till beef and potatoes are tender.

Option: Break up beef and add a packet of brown gravy. Cook another 30 - 60 minutes.
