The Bombers KO’d Keuchel and the Astros 5-0 in Game 5 on Wednesday at the Stadium, and will take a 3-2 series lead back to Houston, with a chance to get back to the World Series for the first time since they last won it all in 2009.

Masahiro Tanaka struck out eight, walked one and allowed three hits over seven scoreless innings, as the Yankees improved to a perfect 6-0 in the Bronx during the playoffs.

Point is, all strong baseball fans will watch no matter which teams are in it.

I am kind of an exception to your rule. I only follow the Astros. Once they are eliminated, I consider the baseball season over and will not watch no matter who is in it. However, if I were going to watch the World Series, it would not be because a "big market team" is in it. In fact, I'd be more inclined to watch if a team that has never gone or has seldom gone is in it. Last year's Series was interesting to me because it was two such teams.

I’m not sure if that’s true. A series between two teams that are three time zones apart is not ideal for TV. I think a Yankees-Cubs series would attract the biggest TV audience in history.

I never quite understand how ratings for a World Series with New York teams or other big markets, get higher ratings. The World Series is the highlight of the baseball season, no matter which teams are in it. I’ve always looked forward to the World Series, no matter whether a team I like is in it, regardless of whether it’s a big market team or not. I guess there are a lot of casual fans, who will watch a Yankees World Series, but not one with a team such as Tampa Bay Rays or Kansas City Royals?? Point is, all strong baseball fans will watch no matter which teams are in it.

My father still remembered & may he RIP & he used to talk about this game endlessly when the NY Giants got into the World Series when some third baseman named Thompson from the NY Giants hit a homerun in the bottom on the ninth to win the game for the NY Giants and get them into the World Series.

There were no televisions in 1951 so my father heard this game on the radio.

I loved watching the KC Royals win the World Series not too long ago.

I predicted the Houston Astros would get into the World Series this year and I am still predicting that same outcome.

Dodgers vs Yankees is almost a traditional World Series matchup going back to the days when they were the Brooklyn Dodgers. And I am old enough to remember the games were in the daytime, so work/school would slow down so that in stolen minutes one would listen on a radio (if the teacher was really nice) during class time. Or, if one was available you could glimpse part of the game on a small black and white set.

Yes, my father too and that's why I'm also a Giants fan.

Fox wants the Yankees to win (as do I!), but Joe Buck certainly doesn’t.

Smoltz doesn't either although he's not as bad as he used to be since Andy Petite retired.

They don’t call Houston “Choke City” for nothing.

I live in the Seattle area; so, I am a Mariner's fan. When Houston switched from NL to AL, we got them in our division. For the past few years they have dominated the AL West, so all I could hope for was a possible Wild Card berth. Mariners were very streaky this year, so it was even more frustrating then usual.

Anyway, yesterday I was watching the Astros vs Yankees game and something occurred to me. There was a time, in the AL West, when the Oakland A's were quite dominant (yes, I am dating myself as an old lady). They were a very good team during the regular season. However, they would have problems in post season. So, I am now wondering if the Astros are falling into that rut. A good regular season team; but, they seem to have problems in the post season.

Yup. my father remained a NY Giants fan and SF Giants fan until the day he died.

I still remember my father taking us to an exhibition baseball game that was sold out before the season started. Just amazing to see that game and all the baseball fans that were present to see the S.F. Giants. I still remember that pre-game when 4 or 5 Giants including the Say Hey Kid were fielding baseballs from a hitter. I forget what they called that but it was better than the actual game itself.

We know now why my father took us out to see the S.F. Giants play that exhibition game, since my brother and myself were playing little league baseball as my eyes well up.

We used to play that same game when I played on the H.S. baseball team. It really checks out your hand and eye coordination like nothing else can.

I liked the Giants when M&M boys played but once they retired Mays and McCovey then I went to be a Dodgers fan and then an Astros and Rangers fan now.

I’m not sure where you’re getting your information, but you’re way off base, There are three radio sports talk stations in Los Angeles and Orange County, including ESPN and Fox outlets. The third is owned by the guy who owns the Angels and is their flagship station. Twenty four hour sports on those stations and they’re not talking New York Yankees all day. They’re talking about the Dodgers almost exclusively right now.

The ESPN station carries the Laker games, and that team is huge in LA. They also carry USC football. Besides the games, they have an hour of Trojan talk Monday nights during the season.

The Fox station carries the Dodgers, the Clippers, and UCLA. That OC station carries the Angels and Ducks.

Two stations, one AM and one FM, carries the Rams. The Chargers are on KFI. They all have call in shows besides the game broadcasts.

TV news begins with Dodger results right now. Weekend and postgame sports wrap up shows are not overlooking local teams.

So while you may be right about other areas not covering LA sports, you’re wrong about coverage here. I guess that old saying about everything being bigger in Texas is especially true when it comes to the BS.

I am talking about the national shows. I am in Dallas but at lunch they have ESPN and FoxSports usually.

I am reporting from my own observations.

But that was the case when I was in L.A. as well.

Duh, that’s called East Coast bias. Though I’ve seen tons of Dodger stories on ESPN this season.

Correction: you’re a “long-suffering” Mariner fan, as I am.

The game in April against the Angels where the Mariner bullpen blew a six-run lead in the 9th inning told me everything I needed to know about this season. Another disappointing one.

Odds that Yanks win on the road tonight are pretty slim.
More bad luck ... I've got a wedding to go to tonight - hate to say it but I'll be glued to my phone.
