And that’s a large part of the battle. We can’t let the slime of the earth steal away perfectly good words and twist them and back us down from doing any other thing with bogus shame.

Remember 1984 and its Newspeak. Only by referring time and again to the Lord, can we push back successfully against this kind of thought-torture.

That is a big issue with immigrants. If they are illiterate they have to learn to read their own language first, then a second language. They are doing that in Nevada. Taxpayer funded, of course.

The occasion occurs a lot more often than we might think.

Getting up formally in front of a classroom is the least of it. Talking in ways the world has hardly heard for years does a lot more.

In the city, one is tempted to forget God because people are there supplying a lot of things for our convenience.

In the country? It’s a lot rawer. But a lot more real.

I came up with these lines at one time:

What’s so great about country?
Well it reflects a Plan
Where a woman is a woman
And a man is a man
And they build a home together
And go out and work the land...

That’s what’s so great about country, Amen!

“Hell Yeah!”

Mrs Libertybel agrees. She’s from the back hollers of Virginia mountain country.

And yet, things to which we can say Heaven Yeah have that topped.

The devil can knock you on your can.

God can knock you on your can too, but God can do something else. He can pick you up and make you stronger!

If you had to say HELL yeah rather than HEAVEN yeah... you skipped a step somewhere.

We know how you feel, and it's cool.

“Talking in ways the world has hardly heard for years does a lot more.”

You are sooo right. It a hoot to watch their eyes go from glassy to twinkling.

Knowledge is power if you can find someone with enough brain cells to understand and care.

It’s cooler than anything the devil can come up with, that’s for BLESSED sure.

The point is... have the patience that when you get passionate about something, the devil doesn’t just walk off with that. Let God into your passion! You might... no you WILL... be amazed what happens when you do.

That’s why the bible says be angry and do not sin. Get mad like God gets mad. The demons fly! But then angels come in and men are healed. It is so beautiful one could be moved to tears (and that’s not unmanly: Jesus wept).

Actually everybody has scads of brain cells.

What they are encrusted in, though, varies from person to person.

Do black people ever get sunburns?

Funny enough, we do. Might depend on how much honky blood you've got. My last sunburn was in southern England, of all places.

Yeah... the symbology of redneck actually speaks of people who aren’t afraid of hard work in exposed conditions. They aren’t lollygagging, mincing little protected wimps.

That’s why I am so aghast when I hear “redneck” used for a class of people who think themselves better because of their genetics, their race. The devil excels in getting things backwards, and that’s one example of it.

The real “redneck” never had slaves. He went out there and picked his own cotton, getting his neck red in the process of course! A real “redneck” is such a delight to meet.

I use the figure sometimes to talk about what the devil does to people, or tries to.

The bible backs it up in various places. Most people are so used to thinking of being true to themselves only, that they forget that there isn’t such a thing. We only carry on beneath some kind of power. There are two possible powers for that, the power of hell or the power of heaven.

How about “Hail” yeah... as in all Hail the power of Jesus’ name! Let angels prostrate fall! (Not prostate, like one overhead transparency that we discovered the typo in, during a rehearsal at church. Cranberry juice for the King!)
