Men dont always have the best relationships with their mothers-in-law, but one South Carolina man is claiming a snake lured him into shooting his wifes mother in the foot.
But really, thats what happened, multiple media outlets reported, citing a Horry County Police report of Wednesdays shooting.
The man said his mother-in-law was leaving the familys home near Conway after dinner, but returned after a snake on the front steps frightened her.
The man and his wife pushed the snake away with a golf club and a shovel, but the snake only slithered beneath the steps.
After the couple failed to kill the snake with the shovel, the man went inside and got his gun. He told everyone to stay still. He got on the ground, aimed and fired, but the bullet whizzed through the steps and into his mother-in-laws left ankle, according to the report.
His mother-in-law immediately cried out in pain but was not seriously hurt. She was treated and released at a local hospital.
This is my father-in-law's motto. He has a deathly phobia of snakes.... and a lot of guns.
That is his story-—and he’s sticking to it !!
Gotta be tough to teach a snake to line up that shot.
I can’t believe the coincidence to my day. I offered to help my son in law to get a snake out of his storage building. I AM GOING TO RETHINK MY OFFER!!
OK
Just reading the headline made me crack up.
You must really like your wife’s family. Mothers-in-law, generally speaking, are the saltpeter and kryptonite of any decent marriage. I’ve been through two, so I have combat medals to show for it.
Officer, really I was shooting at a snake and shot my mother-in-law.....
You have to believe me.....
I’d like to think I’m more careful with guns than that.
As much as I hated her, I loved my mother in law, and surely wouldn’t have shot her.
Bob Ross would have called it a happy accident.
I’d hate to be him when Thanksgiving and Christmas come around. He’ll probably need a taste-tester if his MIL cooks.
Shot the wrong snake?
My personal experience with Mother-in-Laws would indicate he got the right one.
He won’t be asking her to pass the deviled eggs on Thanksgiving dinner celebration.
No. My wife had very unique and wonderful parents and I miss them. My sympathies are with the millions of others who may not have been so lucky.
Ah. Then all respects to you and you wife’s parents, then. I was always considered the predatory tomcat. And for good reason, although my intentions were always noble.
