(JTA) Julia Louis-Dreyfus, an American television actress who gained fame on the hit series Seinfeld, was diagnosed as suffering from breast cancer.
Louis-Dreyfus, whose paternal grandfather was Jewish, broke the news Thursday on Twitter.
1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, Im the one, wrote Louis-Dreyfus, who portrayed Elaine Benes on the hugely popular sitcom. She currently stars in the HBO comedy Veep, for which she has won a record six consecutive Emmy Awards playing the role of Selina Meyer.
The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union, the 56-year-old actress continued. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so lets fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.
Her revelation prompted an outpouring of sympathy on social networks from many film and television stars, including breast cancer survivors Rita Wilson and Christina Applegate, the New York Post reported.
Your undaunted spirit has always been an inspiration to your family at HBO. Sending our love and support, the network posted on Twitter.
Louis-Dreyfus has been married to Brad Hall, like her a former cast member on Saturday Night Live, for 20 years. They have two sons, Charlie and Henry.
I am so very sorry about your situation. I don’t even want to imagine....... *sigh*
Thanks - the son has been fighting for 3 years (originally given 18 months max) and it will almost be a relief when he stops hurting and is in God’s arms.
Full coverage from the gub'mint (single payer) will limit real healthcare to the connected people and their families. The rest of us will be limited to clinics and antibiotic prescriptions.
A former co-irker (actually a good person ) beat breast cancer a couple of years ago.
I have found out that she is really eaten up with cancer in her bones.
She is only 29 and paying a fortune every month from what I’ve gathered. That’s with insurance and cancer insurance since it ran in her family.
Prayers up.
Appreciate it - God Bless
Thanks for sharing.

...Yes, we know Dreyfus was on Seinfeld, so she must be Jewish, right? Wrong. Dreyfus is the daughter of a Jewish billionaire, but she is not considered to be Jewish since her mother Judith LaFever, is not a Jew.
While it is true that many kids with Jewish fathers grow up identifying themselves as members of the tribe, Julia was raised Protestant, often wears crosses, and has openly stated that she is not Jewish. Sorry, guys!...
I hope she gets better soon, but boycott Hollywood anyway.
“Louis-Dreyfus, whose paternal grandfather was Jewish”
I hope she and others afflicted by cancer conquer the disease. But what in the hell is the reason for mentioning
her grandfather at all let alone mention his religion?
PRAYERS for you. I hope you are feeling well.
I’m a cancer survivor and my Dad passed from Stage 4 lung cancer in July, so I don’t wish Louis-Dreyfus any ill either; I just won’t watch her show. On the other hand, McCain has glioblastoma and was in a position to actually get 0-care repealed, but voted NO all three times, so as far as I’m concerned, you can wish him all the ill you want.
The report apparently comes from a Jewish news service. Sometimes, the cigar of Jewish mention is just a cigar.
Prayers up for your son and you. I can’t even begin to contemplate how I would deal with something like that.
Multi-Billionarie. She is reportedly the richest women in Hollywood/show business.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ net worth is $200 million - Sep 19, 2017.
I think she can get whatever medical treatment she wants. She can also help thousands of other people get medical treatment if she wished to do so.
Was Climate Change mentioned in the article ?
The only line of tripe this article is missing is to quote a feminist proclaiming: “If men could get breast cancer, it would be cured by now”.
